Amazon return at UPS store

What’s the deal? If I google there are a gazillion stories and seems to say UPS stores despise Amazon returns. I didn’t argue I said otay!
UPS stores are franchised / privately-owned. Each owner chooses whether to do Amazon returns.
So maybe one is best off requesting all items ship in an additional box from Amazon
Not an option.
and jam it into one of those drop boxes with the label taped around it. The delivery driver will understand.
If you're lucky, the driver will take it to a nearby UPS store that processes Amazon returns. UPS doesn't accept Amazon's "UPS Store" based returns. They can't scan the barcode (and it's not the point). At the end of each day at a UPS store (or Kohls or Whole Foods), I presume they attach the barcode to each item, throw them all in a single box (as possible), and that one box goes to an Amazon warehouse.

I'm surprised they took an item like that back. Usually, the weird sized ones they just tell you to keep. Just weird that a store wouldn't take the item. I'd avoid them for every use.

I'm returning an item today, a large box weighing 25 lbs. I know now what the guy's basis of rejecting the return is--the barcode says, "customer packed." But I'm returning it exactly as UPS delivered it--UPS. In its original box, no outer box.

He said with the hockey stick (it had a label on the blade) this is not packed, you need to pack it. Again, because the barcode said "customer packed."

He does win. I'm bringing my return to the other UPS store instead, because it weighs 25 lbs. I don't want to take it inside of his store, only for the same thing to happen. this is exactly how it works--you are afraid to come to my store with these large items now and I don't have to deal with them. Whaddya gonna do....

Today I tried to return a brand new hockey stick and the only alternative was the UPS store, not Kohls.

When I went to drop it off the owner had a scowl and said I can’t accept that, it needs a box. I said but this is the way it came. He said no dice.

I was thinking maybe it’s the size/length of the hockey stick? I went to another UPS store (we have 3 within a 3 mile radius) and no problem.

Is this like a parking space. Sometimes when there’s a confrontation, the driver won’t try to park there ever again? Just curious what happened, what the guy’s problem was. He seems to be ok with selling packing services and $28 ground labels to elderly folks.

So maybe one is best off requesting all items ship in an additional box from Amazon cuz what would I be able to do, buy a box and have this guy charge me?
Around here, in The First State, the UPS Store is $1.00 for returns and Staples is free. Staples gives you a coupon for 10% (or something like that) merchandise. Obviously Staples is handling the returns to get you in the store. These days I would only need paper or toner cartridge at a Staples. But Staples either does not have the toner cartridge I want or it's a Staples brand. Over the years I have concluded it's best to stick with OEM toner.

i asked a ups store owner before how much they get for each amazon package return. told me its $2 and the freight back is paid by amazon. the one i go to usually has a wall of amazon returns . at least a hundred everytime i go there .

i am lucky to have a amazon hub i usually go to these days. they have a wall of locker and just scan code and put inside.

No idea what Kohls is but here it's UPS that does returns.
Can sometimes select for a pick up instead of driving all the way to town to drop it off. Saves me 45 mins.

over by me it alternates when I return something. Some of it I think depends on the seller's options of return methods. Some go back to UPS (no box, UPS packs it) and I'll get an instant refund by the time I get home. Others want a box and UPS label to return and then not refund until they physically receive it back into the amazon warehouse!

other times returning to Kohls doesn't require a box, just the item, and the refund is instant. There have been a few times where the return from Kohls never made it to the amazon warehouse, then I had to prove I returned it with the receipt Kohls gave me.

but I've heard of friends who went to UPS and the employee tried to tell them they had to pay to pack it to send it back to amazon. LIES of course.. And of course looking up the reviews of those locations are very poor, not surprised!

Whole Foods is the best place to return Amazon goods, you don't even need to box them up. UPS stores generally provide poor customer service, I avoid them. Sadly a lot of small businesses provide poor service.

I’ve never been offered the option of Kohl’s as a return location even there are stores is the same two closest towns that have a UPS store. I really wish they offered a USPS option because the closest return is 45 minutes away.

Did you experience a long wait for your refund? I had an item that I needed to return so I tried the WF route. Quick and easy, no packing or anything like that, but I'm on Day 17 of an 18-day period before they credit my account. Check that, they now pushed it out another 3 days. And I just asked them to credit my account balance, not a refund back to my card.

I live in a crowded area, and UPS Store returns usually have a service charge, or at least used to.

We had multiple options before with free returns, including Kohl’s (not close but still an option at any store), Whole Foods, or a college campus Amazon facility. The latter only has a drop off box though, so it has to be properly boxed and needs to fit in a drop chute.

We used to have loose item returns at an Amazon 4-Star store, but they’ll all closed now.

I've noticed it depends on the seller on how it gets shipped back. Some don't even use Kohls and yep I have one near me too. The ones that offer Kohls for free, would charge for UPS, and the reverse applies. And sometimes I'm offered Staples other times, nope.. Started to notice a pattern of the stuff I order and return.

I did notice a long refund time with Kohls, sometimes they didn't even get the return back. Now when returning to Kohls, Amazon is asking what locationg I would return it to. Think they're tracking the progress of the return, must have had a lot of returns disappear on the way back to Amazon..

But you're asking about WF, I got the refund a day later when I returned to WF. But that wait line was nearly a half hour! wow..

I have an Amazon drop off store not to far from me so that is where I go most of the time when they give me that option. For some reason at times the return page tells me I have to go to Whole Foods. No idea why, but it is fairly close also.

What kind of store is that? I remember returns at Amazon 4-Star stores, but they all closed. I think Amazon Go is gone too, but I don't think they were ever equipped for returns.

They have those oddball locker places in or around some college campuses. The one I remember at the UC Berkeley student union still has pickup. They're also quite different in that they have oversized item pickup that wouldn't fit in a locker. I think one time I ordered some wiper blades and I had to pick them up a person who had to grab my package from the back instead of loading it in a locker which is loaded when the customer scans the code. But they also accept returns. At one time they had demo Amazon electronics devices, but someone there said they got abused and they decided to stop displaying electronics.

I had the opposite experience- it took me longer to walk into the store than it did to do the return, but I'm paying for it with my wait now. :ROFLMAO: The item made it to their warehouse, I'm just waiting for the final step to get the credit to my account.

As soon as they scanned it I got my refund. Email hit my phone before I got to my car.

I've used both the UPS store and Staples for returns with Amazon, never seem to have an issue with either. I did used to have issues with the UPS store in my town when I worked at my previous job and they would refuse to take certain packages that were on the companies account for no apparent reason what so ever. When I was out traveling somewhere, never had any issues with the UPS stores taking the packages but the one in the town I lived in would just flat out refuse them. Very annoying to say the least as I would have to drive a half hour to get to another UPS location that would take them.

This is definitely a weird experience. I don't return many items, and when I have I've packed it myself and dropped it off at UPS. As soon as UPS scanned it, Amazon acknowledged that it was on the way and I'd usually have a refund within 24 hours.
