Why the huge obsession with adding MMO?

Capa - No one product is going to work for everyone. Situations vary. If MMO wasn't needed, it probably won't do anything. As far as gas mileage, it depends on the vehicle. Different engines will react differently. When I tried it in my Jeep, it had no detectable effect on gas mileage. I haven't tried it in the gas on anything else, however. It does seem to make a decent cleaner in oil, however. Plus, it's cheap. When a situation comes up that it might help, I feel it's worth a shot.

Lighten up life is too short. You tried it lost mpgs sorry to hear it. You can comment from experience, most don't. I guess I should have read a little closer, next time you post I will. Or better yet, we can both ignore each other :).

At least when I discuss a topic I conduct myself in a civil manor.

rslifkin,
that is exactly my point. MMO works for some, and for some it doesn't work at all. I just find it ridiculous that the MMO believers would have the audacity to question its usage with those for whom it didn't do anything. Several posters have either insinuated or directly stated it.

Yeah, but the point is, some act like adding anything to your engine will kill it. From what I've seen and heard, the worst that happens with MMO, when used correctly, is that it either hurts mpg a little, or does nothing, depending on how it was used.

Demarpaint,
I do apologize for my tone. I was upset that you had tried to psychologically peg me in your previous post. I do agree with your posts often.

No harm no foul! It could have come across as psychological pegging, [cool term]. Sorry if it did!

Two polarized, but sensible views.

If someone wants to use it, fine. It's their engine and if they get benefit out of it (REAL OR IMAGINED) who cares?

If someone specifically doesn't want to use it or agents like it due to their belief (REAL OR IMAGINE) that their oils are just fine the way they are ..who cares?

If both of you (and not YOU, but those with more intense and visceral feelings on the topic) can concede to those points and stop caring what the other thinks/believes and be happy with your choices, we can all have a group hug ..reenact the "hands across America" ..and all join in a chorus of Kumbaya

I have tried some "chemicals" I didnt like, Rislone was one of them. When I was alot younger, Duralube, Slick 50, all gimmicks, I can critisize them. MMO, I tried and liked and will continue to use. Restore is another product, I had good luck with and would tell someone to use, if they had a old car, running poorly and needed to get more miles out of. Thing is I endorse or critisize these products from experience. I may doubt synlube, but I am not going to condemn you for useing it, since I never tried it. MMO has enough positive results, that I realize it isnt a fluke for me, the stuff is good stuff.

I'm guilty of commenting about Synlube w/o trying it, but I'm sorry that is one product that wreaked of a scam. No need to dig up old posts but at least to me, and a few others I'm sure it was pretty clear. Then again if someone has $32/qt to plop down and give it a shot, they should go for it. JMO
