Why or why not Mercedes-Benz?

I love Aston-Martins...I had been hoping to own one later in life (kids out of college, etc.) but they are simply out of my reach...

There are some real differences in the sound of the engines in the video clip, frankly, the exhaust note on the Astons in the video is much louder (un-restricted?) than the MB....and more valvetrain/mechanical noise can be heard...maybe the turbos on the MB dampen some of the exhaust pulses to mute the noise a bit compared with other engines...

The other differences are likely due to firing order...but I don't know that the V-12 sounds like a 60 degree V-6...it's a 60 degree engine, like the V-6, and like the V-12s in the Aston or Ferrari, but the sound of that M275 is too smooth to be anything less than a 12...

IMHO if that were my car I'd get the Renntech R1 tune which I think is a good deal for the money, and remove the speed limiter...so you would probably crack 200 wide open.

As to V12's the M120 is my favorite, I think it sounds the best on its cam's, but its a NA motor verses force fed.



The M120 in Brabus or extreme AMG tune in the Zonda sounds pretty exotic. Brabus was making a 7.3L version of this motor in the 90's that sounded similar.

I agree...if one of those big zero-turn riding mowers is "exotic."

Don't fret too much, you've a marvelous car there that most don't ever see.

Our neighbor has a two or three year old Aston. It's very nice. But it's not all that. And it's in the shop . . . a lot.

Doesn't a balanced diet include all of the basic food groups??

Unfortunately, since I unwittingly hijacked his thread, we never found out what andrewg (the OP) ended up buying (if anything) in his search for a roadster...

Any news on that front Andrew?
