Why do you use the oil brand you use?

For our Mini, it carries the required LL-01 approval for warranty and is readily available for a good price (castrol 0W-40)

For our X5, it's the only high mileage A3 (non-GF5) xW-30 grade out there and is readily available for a good price+rebate (M1 10W-30). High mileage German seals need all the help they can get.

Whatever is a good value and meets the specs I am looking for. When I need oil I will search Walmart.com and amazon. And look for good deals in sysnthetic oils. So in the end I like name brands at house brand prices.

I am with several others, I use what is cheapest.
I don't care about brand so long as it meets the specs for the motor it is going into.
The motor does not care about brand either.
I have never noticed my vehicles run or sound any different with different oils.

I used to be a Valvoline only guy, don't remember why.

Valvoline! Bought a 5 qt jug of Maxlife last week for $18. It's inexpensive, I've used it for years, and It works!

I mainly use PP because of the price/value/brand reputation combination. It doesn't really meaningfully save me any money to buy a cheaper brand. I don't honestly know if the higher quality product will change the lifespan of my vehicle but I feel better using a premium product, and it cost me next to nothing for doing so once you calculate the rebates into the equation.

The only engine failure I have ever had was running Amsoil !! Although the failure in all honesty was due to a part left out of the engine by the great GM work force,

Only oils I have used are Valvoline, Mobil 5000, Napa and Pennzoil. I did give in and ran Quakerstate Synthetic once because of price which was a mistake as car used oil and engine just sounded louder. Now that I have Dodge product Mobile 5000 is off list since it doesn't have certification.

I use more supertech than anything because it's about as good as any my for my use and my vehicle's and it's cheap and easy to get like I like my women. JK about the women part lol. Otherwise what ever good bargins I bump into at the right time.

Most of my stuff gets Mobil 1 0w30. Has been for probably 10 years or more. Why mess with success?

Truck will be getting Farm & Fleet 5w40. Looks to be just what it needs, still a SM oil to help with the flat tappets in the 300.

I've only had two failures on any car on oil/fluid wetted parts - my Dodge Caravan 62te transmission running Supertech ATF+4 (failure of the torque converter at 167K miles), and on the same van Pentastar 3.6L V6 collapsed 3 lifters running Castrol Edge Titanium (at 73K miles). So, I know in my head neither was likely the fluid's fault, but emotions are real, and I'm probably not going to use them again, at least on this car. Lifters have stayed quiet for the last 100K miles on Napa synthetic fluid. Not sure what to try on the transmission it's only been a couple months since the rebuild.

Pennzoil is cheaper than Mobil 1 while returning pretty much the same UOA's in terms of wear. Plus I like the GTL tech, seems cool to me but I know it really doesn't matter.
