Why do you use the oil brand you use?

Pcmo it's PennzoilUltraPlatinum or Castrol Magnatec. I liked the ester content of the 0w20 magnatec and - 51 flow and I liked pennzoil synthetics for cleanliness, gtl and being promo'd their oil. Both great oils. Ran 10w30 trisynthetic M1 in 90's and it was good but so was royal purple when they used synerlec in 2000.
Being a huge Honda fan all the big Honda racing teams using redline oil so that is where I am right now. Weather was minus eight today and it was the easiest ever to start.

Condo doesn't allow oil changes so I get the best coupon buy I can. That's a Valvoline white bottle for $10 plus extra for recycling and tax. If I can get MaxLife for $10 more I can do it. Tire shop doesn't try to upsell me.

I have no preference for any particular oil brand, i simply look at the technical data and if i see that for example Shell, ( as is the case ) makes an oil that has all the goodies that i want for my cars, i will use that.

Mobil1. Old habits. Been using it since 1974. The HM 10w30 seems the only oil to quiet down the cam gears in the F150. Don't care about price because I don't drive much and my oil changes are measured in years.

Some of us use clearance oils (myself included) and I am not brand loyal as I vote with my wallet

I like 0W-40 or if I can find it affordable 0W-30, the brand doesn't matter but price does. This weight goes in everything including outdoor power equipment and autos. I am going to try some Amazon 0-40 next in the outdoor stuff for a test.

Most of my adult life I used nothing but Valvoline until I came here and started chasing rebates. What got me on that wagon was the first time I walked into our family's mech's home garage and there was nothing but Valvoline, posters, stickers, trash cans, cases of quarts in the corner. I figured if it was good enough for him it was good enough for me. After 40+ years I can picture that moment in my mind like it was yesterday.

XOM seemed to be ahead of the game as far as LSPI concerned with most of the M1 line...with d1G2 and SN+ now, I feel more comfortable using other brands, but will still buy M1 when its rebates are in effect.

I use Supertech Synthetic 5w-30 in the Verano because it is Dexos rated and The 2.4 doesnt use any of it during 5-7k OCI. Previous use of QSUD used about 1.5qt in that duration and even Mobil 1 Used about 1 qt. In my Mustang im using PP 0w20 because I got it for $1/qt. UI change it once a year with only about 6k on it.

15 years back I was driving almost 30k miles (48000km) per year, found BITOG and moved away from my 3-4000 mile OCIs.

With UOAs I got a vehicle specified for a 6000 mile max (10k km) interval safely up to a 12000 mile (20000km) interval. UOAs said it could have gone even further. Doing only 2-3 oil changes per year instead of 10 saved me time ($$ about the same) and 1/3 the waste oil is good for the environment.

Now with the same oil and driving 12-15k miles (20-24k km) per year, I am able to do annual changes, or go longer if desired.

Perhaps if I ever get a DI engine I will change.

As long as its a decent brand at a good price I use it. I buy the Fuchs by the drum for the shop so thats cheapest for me otherwise i watch rebates.

I use Mobil, partly based on experiences with the industrial side. And its fairly inexpensive at the local Wal-Mart.
Late March we will be doing an oil change on a 8000hp tripple reduction twin output gearbox for the first time in 14 years. Could probably go another 3 years or so.

Price... The Altima and Sierra are filled with SuperTech now, and the S70 filled with various bottles scavenged from my friend's late father's garage. The Next fill in the S70 will be Harvest King, I just discovered that a farm store new to our area carries that for $2/qt. (and the HK 10w30 says SN+ on the bottle!)

I us QSUD 5W30 because the engine sounds super quiet i like that. And the price is right.

Seems like I and possibly one other pick an oil based on UOAs. Too many BITOGer pick an oil because of the name or color of the bottle. Shame on you and I thought this was an elate group of oil enthusiasts. )
