This has to be said: some of the worst service I've ever received in a store has been in "traditional" mom 'n pops.

I've walked out of a number of Mom 'n Pop stores too for that very reason. I've found that unless they provide a "niche" product or service not available elsewhere they tend not to last long.

They pay their truck drivers VERY well. If I ever need to go drive OTR again Walmart will be my 1st choice.

They pay well for a scab company, but all the union companies pay better.

I hate Walmart because they sell things that I do not consider high quality enough, and their price is not low enough compare to local stores discount (FYI, Walmart here rarely go on hugh discount like other stores).

Plus, their parking lot is always full and their quality of service is not high enough.

(I must be a very cheap and demanding customer)

lets get a few things straight. first of all no one is forced to work at walmart. it isnt a slave labour camp. anyone working there does so by their own will, and anyone working there is free to leave anytime they like. if someone wants to complain about poor wages or benefits they dont have to work at walmart, they can chose to work elsewhere.

second, walmart does not force any company to produce goods overseas. infact nobody can force company "X" to sell goods to walmart if they dont want to, or to go overseas for production. if a company goes overseas for production, the motivation is purely profit and walmart hasnt a thing to do with that. thats just greed, a normal part of american life.

i have a friend high up in walmarts chain and he told me what basically happens is company "X" comes to walmart with some new invention or idea. walmart's people think it over and decide to try it out in a select few stores to gauge public interest. so walmart orders 100,000 units of company "x" 's product and company "x" cant deliver. they are only setup to produce a few thousand a week. so walmart says ohwell thats too bad.
NEXT !

thats how i was told it works.
