Around here at every store the major brands like Pennz, Castrol, Valvoline, Mobil and QS have suddenly gone up $1.00 per qt.

Was $3.29/qt last week and is $4.29/qt this week.

Synthetice have gone up too. Mobil-1 in all flavors is $8/qt now.

I think pyb at Autozone yesterday was $4 and some change a quart. I went there to grab a bottle of Lexol.

This is a good question. Only thing I can guess is the oil companies are gearing up for increased travels.

Maybe it affected the price of gasoline as well?
Last year (or was it 2 years ago?)when gas went crazy high up to $5 a gallon oil didn't go up any.

2 years ago oil topped out at 146/barrel. While unleaded gas won't trade in unison with crude oil, the correlation is almost identical mitigated by inventory status of each commodity.
