Who's running High Performance Lubricants (HPL) products in their engine?

Grandma getting a upgrade

after this next oil change in my Tundra and my wife’s Lexus I’ll have my 0w20 stash cleared out…

will be switching both to HPL

that being said…I do wish they sold gallons and quarts individually

I can see myself going with HPL. I'm kinda thinking about getting a new or low mileage used car and I want to treat the best I can. I think that will be a good start for whichever car I get.

Why 5W-20 instead of the 10W-20?
At oil temps below 100F, the 10W-20 has viscometric properties that are similar to a 5W-30. Since this car is used for very short-trips in traffic and hybrids can take a while to warm up their engine oil, I want to benefit from the slightly improved fuel economy during the warm-up phase.

I just started with SAE40 Engine Cleaner in the Legend before performing major engine work.
  • Timing Belt
  • New Oil Pan
  • Replace oil filter case; figure "8" o-ring and cooler o-rings.
  • Reseal cam bearing cap.
I have an under-the-VC photo to compare the results. Not expecting a lot of varnish removal. Just particulate removal.

Posted this elsewhere - latest HPL run for my cars is the 5W40 Supercar in the S600. I’ve changed over three Volvos and the one MB.

Had to use up the rest of the M1 0W40 in my stash, so the SL600 got M1 last month. Still have quite a bit of 5W30 Pennzoil Ultra Platinum to use up in the Tundra.

Still, I’ve got four cars on HPL. Very happy.

What is the difference again between the regular Euro 5W40 and the Supercar version?

Just changed out the Liquimoly LLHT 5W40 that the shop put in when they did my timing chain. 4 track days on it/3,500 miles. Now back to the HPL Euro 5W40 (after a flush)!

We (EQTuning) have concluded there is no coil that performs better than OEM. I used MSD for a while at 450whp with no issues but the same coils at 550whp caused misfires. There now is a bunch of evidence from tuners at EQT any of the aftermarket brands are substandard. Just FYI.

Now on to the regular scheduled broadcast.......

A better question for @High Performance Lubricants than for me. I PM’d HPL and asked his opinions on each choice.

Ended up with Euro 0W30 in the two Volvo daily drivers. Lots of very cold starts in Utah on the one. They both get lots of short trips, and changed at the OEM OCI of 7,500.

Supercar 0W40 in the R model, which will see very cold starts.

Supercar 5W40 in the S600, which is in a much more mild climate.

Huh? What does this response w/r to coil packs have to do with this thread?
