Who’s running Amsoil ATF on this forum? If you are, please list the following:

1) Yr/Make/Model
2) Transmission
3) Miles on Unit
4) Any improvement in shift quality?
5) Frequency and method of fluid change (i.e. drain/fill every 30K)

Thanks.

5 Pontiac Montanas 2001-2003
Automatic
70k-372k
Shift quality is as new, no changes noted
full change every 125k

3 Pontiac Vibes
Automatic
40k-180k
Slightly smoother shifting, nothing drastic
drain and fill every 30k

All the above are equipped with an Amsoil bypass filter on the trans.

98 rord contour 100,000 miles, amsoil atf. Smooth shifting have not changed it in 90,000 miles. 05 ford escape will get amsoil atf this summer.

1995 Mercury Grand Marquis
4R70W (according to Wikipedia and Hayne's)
105,502 miles (6,000 on the ATF)
Much smoother during cold temperatures, OD shift (converter lock-up) is MUCH smoother and sometimes unnoticeable, no jerking while coasting through shift points. If I hit all shifts at the right RPM I never feel the car shift, that NEVER happened with petroleum ATF.
I plan to change the filter every 50,000 miles and the fluid every 100,000 miles (maybe longer with oil analysis).

1) 2006 Civic, 2006 CR-V
2) Both 5-speed automatics
3) 5K, 7K
4) No change in shifting that I can tell. Both are smooth as can be though.
5) Did 2x drain/fill on each unit when they were new. On the Civic, will change per the OLM, on the CRV will change at 60k/4yr, then every 45K/3yr.

1993 Honda Civic, four speed auto, presently 184,000 miles.
Went to Amsoil Syn fluid at 118,000 miles, shifts fine, no problems. Dump fluid (3 qts) every 3,000 miles to moniter fluid condition. Magnetic drain plug shows very little if any wear materials, fluid is bright red. Temperature of fluid is noticibly lower than the recommended Honda Z1 was.

1) 2004 Acura TL
2) 5 Speed Auto
3) 32k
4) No Change to slightly better shift quality
5) Drained/added 3 qts Amsoil ATF at 19k, 21k, 30k intervals

1)2005 Explorer
2)Auto
3)14K
4)No Change to slightly better shift quality
5)Will change filter and add Amsoil ATF every 35-40K

'05 Corolla LE soon to be next.

1. 1996 Buic Skylark
2. Automatic
3. 141k when head gasket blew
4. Yes, noticed by my mom right after the first oil change at 60k mark. Trammy ran smooth until the day the engine died.
5. 30k intervals, no special flushes, just drain and refill.

1. 2002 Saturn LS1
2. Automatic
3. 63K
4. Too new to tell
5. 30K interval, trammy saw it’s first change at the 40K mark.

1. 2001 Saturn SC2
2. Automatic
3. 39K
4. Too new to tell
5. Will be 30k interval, first fluid change at 35K.

1) 2004 Pontiac Sunfire
2) Getrag 5spd Manual Trans
3) 41,179
4) Much smoother and by far easier to shift into gears.
5) I did a drain/fill with Amsoil ATF at 38,000 and the mechanic said the old stuff was pretty metalic. Because my Transmission only takes 1.5 quarts he recommended changing it every 30,000 miles.

OriginHack, as good as Amsoil Universal ATF is, 30,000 miles on a 1.5-quart manual tranny fill might be pushing it.

I use it in the power steering unit of my Toyota, and it's never been happier. I don't have any personal experience with it in a transmission, but even the most robust gear oils are generally ready to be swapped out at 30K miles -- much less an ATF.

My opinion only.

91 Caprice, 700R4, 228,000 miles. Tranny first serviced at 130,000 miles with SuperTech DexIII - full flush and refill. Drove 2000 miles, then changed all the fluid again to Amsoil. Changed the filter then as well. At same time installed 3/4 x 12 x 11 plate style Long MFG. cooler in series after the radiator. Shifting improved when first serviced, and became very smooth on the Amsoil. During the nearly 100k miles that the same Amsoil fluid has been in this unit, the shifting has stayed consistent and the fluid looks and smells new still. I attribute some of this to the additional cooling. I tow a trailer sometimes with this car, and a 20' boat in the heat of summer. If I had to do it over, I would have added some extra filtration to the cooler circuit, and may still do so.

98 Ford Taurus AX4N trns 100,000

Switched to Amsoil at 70,000 and Ran it for 5 yrs 28,000 miles. I also ran Auto-RX for the last part of this interval.

Changed it out and at about 98,000 miles, and Really can't tell a difference in shift quality.

I have run it in other vechicles of friends and family and it seems to maintain shift quality well.

1996 Ford Ranger 4WD 110,000 Auto

Tranny & filter changed with dino at 45,000. Developed a slip going into high gear at about 90,000. Auto-Rx at about 95,000. Changed fluid & filter to Amsoil ATF at 97,000. The slip is gone, but I don't know if it is the Amsoil or the Rx. (I did not notice any difference when running the Auto-Rx)

'99 Dodge Grand Caravan 3.3L, 41TE.

Exchanged fluid at about 60K miles - ATF+3 out, Amsoil in. Retrained the tranny computer. Tranny slipped like crazy. Amsoil corporate said my transmission must be busted, it can't be their fluid, but try some unapproved HFM additive anyway and good luck. Added Lubegard HFM synthetic and the slipping got much less but not really cured and not as good as ATF+3. About 5K miles later, exchanged again - new ATF+3 in. Tranny working fine again.

Been doing 20K miles fluid exchanges with ATF+3 until the last change at 140K miles, now using the Valvoline ATF+4. Currently approaching 150K miles and shifts like new. The ATF+4 will probably bump up to 40K mile exchange intervals.

Not bad at all on a supposedly busted tranny. Amsoil isn't for everyone.

1996 Jeep Cherokee
~160K miles
No change-but it's been on Amsoil ATF for a long time. Still runs and shifts like new
Drain/filter change/fill every 30K miles or so.

I did notice a significant improvement in the transfer case when I replaced the original fill with Amsoil ATF. It was much smoother pulling it into 4WD.

Sorry Steelers, The mechanic already claims it. I'm going to "stretch" my intervals to 5K miles....one of these days
