It comes with a ribbed plastic sleeve, with a cap to cover the hole when you take the rack out. If you plan in moving it, 2" ABS drain pipe has correct ID and can be used instead of the sleeve. I will move it eventually so I used ABS pipe and saved factory sleeve for the permanent location. I cut pieces of ABS and glued them on the outside of the ABS pipe to simulate ribs--increase bonding area for concrete.
Installation instructions are in the package. Basically dug a hole, put gravel on the bottom 4"-6", poured concrete part way in, place the sleeve, , poked hole thru concrete to gravel, so water could drain, put the bottom section of the rack in, plumbed the sleeve with it and a magnetic torpedo level, poured the rest of concrete in, pulled the rack section out and let concrete set for 48 hours. You are done.
Do not try to bury the sleeve in the ground directly. Winds pulled it out of heavy Georgia clay when I tried to do it. I bit the bullet and bought concrete mix.
Sleeve allows laundry to spin in the wind, so pulling force on the ground is minimal. You can hang 3 BIG loads of laundry on it easy. Rack is high enough off the ground that a folded over queen-size sheet does not touch the ground.
Takes 3-4 hours to dry at 70F, sooner if it is windy. We used it at 50F, takes longer, but we still save money.
