I am a believer in a good sounding engine, some of you don't care I know. But we always hear "American Iron" V8 etc. Who says that other countries can't make a nice growling V8?

Like Korea, for example

Or Japan

And we KNOW Germany can

I dunno about y'all, but I think that Hyundai V8 is purrrfection.

(The BMW) Zero to 60 in 7 to 8 seconds from a V8? Must be one pudgy car... What happened to the sub-6 second naught to 60 of V8s? 0 to 60 of 7 to 8 is the territory of 160 to 180 HP cars... heck my DIESEL does that.

OK, if it's the 200 HP NA version, that makes more sense.

That's more like it!

Nice to see all those engines getting trashed and fuel getting wasted for what?!? A youtube movie? You can't even tell the guy in the sedan next to you that you are more well endowed than he when you do it for a youtube video!

Wow that is a lot of hate for some harmless youtube videos.

1. Hard acceleration does NOT. I repeat NOT, and I will repeat it again, N-O-T hurt engines. The amount of people with regularly tracked cars, or people who just drive their cars hard, but take good care of them, is evidence of that.

2. Who cares what the guy in the sedan next to you thinks? I certainly don't!

3. These videos are an effective way of getting a feel for the speed, and sound of lots of cars, without having to go test drive one and going through all that bull.

4. I regularly give it lots of "gas" when accelerating out of a stop, just because i enjoy the feeling of acceleration.

1) talk to me when you get past 250k miles. High load is good/great to a point. WOT in controlled conditions, OK. Time at temperature, maybe so, maybe not. Transients? I'd rather not... Especially when it combines a number of harsher conditions all combined into one in these types of examples.

2) Why do you thinkmost folks buy these things, especially the louder/more obnoxious ones? A hyundai "luxury" V8 car?!? really?!? High power, performance, luxury, etc autos have their place and are often awesome cars. But there is, for most of the public who finances their car, cant pay their mortgage/credit cards, and has no retirement savings, a better way to spend money, IMO.

3) Agreed, but there is no replacement for being behind the wheel. Driving dynamics is a huge part of being a good/great vehicle. The videos ARE neat, but Im thinking a little bigger picture here, IMO at least.

4) Your dollar bills. Not my place to tell you that you could be doing something better with them, but never complain if you can't afford something else down the line... Just saying.

the 5.6 in my nisan titan runs like no other v8 that i have tried in any other truck it is fast!

I like youtube videos showing what cars can do. Especially the exhaust videos (but I guess there wasting money revving, those pennies worth of gas could be going somewhere else)helps me make a decision before a put down a couple hundred. JHZR2 its just a video...... I track my car weekly and daily drive guarantee I will hit 300k no problem.

Oh man the acceleration in that thing is awesome. My buddys titan with a rack and tool box filled with tools he smashed the gas and wow pulled like nothing. If I ever get a chance to buy one of those motors its going in the z

+1 American luxury cars were made for the v-8. Look at Ford's Panther (Crown Vic). Smooth v-8, low rev's on highway for a quieter ride, vs a buzzy 4-banger, and plenty of power to haul people, luggage, a trailer, etc.

The VK56DE in my Nissan Titan is engineered and built in the US, does it count as an American v-8? or as a Japanese v-8. Impressive engine to say the least. I have had a 5.0 '89 Mustang GT, and a 1997 Z-28 with the LT-1. I have to say the Nissan engine will hold up to either of those. I do like the old 5.0 the best. Tough small block.
