No waste of fuel if the participants and the people watching the movie later get some enjoyment out of it. As long as these things are done somewhere safe (which certaintly isnt always the case) I have no problem with it. Its the idiot trying to rip in and out of lanes on the freeway trying to fly at 160 km/h when traffic is moving at 115 that bothers me.

You mean like the Mercedes Benz 6.9 and later variant V8's?

That truck, and any vehicle with glasspacks on it, is an excellent example of an atrocious sounding exhaust that also happens to be waaay too loud for how fast the car is.

I can't tell you how much it annoys me to hear cars that are FAR louder than they should be for how fast they are. No car belongs with glasspacks.

+1 i like silence!
A German motorcycle magazine did a large test in the late 90's of 20 aftermarket exhaust systems and compared their performance on a 4cyl water cooled bike.
Every one without exeption was louder actually lost HP and torque compared to stock.
Automobile and Motorcycle manufacturers spend a fortune tailoring the exhaust to the specific engine, why would anyone think for a few bucks this can be improved on by just turning up the noise level is beyond me.

A Lambo or Ferrari V12 sounds wonderfull but not loud by any means.

to each his own...

I prefer a quiet car, sleepy and yet fast if you need it. Noise wears on you after a while, and there are way too many noisy vehicles out there.

My 6.1 Hemi has a sweet smooth purr until you open the throttle and then it has a distinct bark to go with its bite.

No offense to the Nissan Titan crowd, but you better not line up next to a stock Silverado with a 5.3 and 3.73 gears! You're in for a BIG surprise.

It might be a generational thing, but I don't like the sound of most 4 or 6 cylinders and would prefer them be very quiet.

A good healthy V8 should be heard. any time I have a V8 truck I put loud exhaust on it because I like to hear it mile after mile.

i also believe a truck should sound like a truck even if it isn't going to run a 13 second quarter mile.

I think it is silly when people put loud exhausts on luxury cars because that really defeat the purpose, but a loud V8 pickup or muscle car, I will put my windows down to listen to them.

There are some 4 and 6 cylinders that sound good, (like my bike at 13,000 rpm), but V8's always sound good unless they are lame and a strong high compression well tuned V8 is like the call of the wild at REDLINE off in the distance.

My old CBR 1100XX sounded great at high RPM but not loud.
I like a nice exhaust tone, the Chrysler Hemi is a perfect example of a deep but quiet rumble. You can hear the power but you don’t need to turn the radio up to drown out the noise when it’s sitting next to you.

Nissan Titan 5.6L with a banks cat-back exhaust. Love that sound on some Youtube vids. And I thought Banks was in the business for diesel's only.

As long as the engine sounds good, I don't care. Putting an aftermarket exhaust on most cars doesn't sound very good. Trucks are a different story.

The Hyundai V8 is a nice little motor. As are many of the pushrod V8's GM makes. And the Coyote V8 in the new 'Stang.

My 302's have about 205,000 miles, that count? LOL And the one has had a pretty "typical" life for a 5.0L HO....... AKA the [censored] driven out of it and on transmission #4.

I managed to put 300K miles on a 88 [5.0] Town Car...The bulk of it was highway running from Miami to NYC...I had some General Motor V8's before I got the Town Car...Overall they were pretty good but needed alot more maintenance then the Fords...I generally get rid of the General Motor cars by 150K miles...The Caprice did the best overall on the G.M. cars....After my experience with the 88 Town Car I buy nothing but Ford V8's.

I have managed somehow threw the years to talk several people into Panthers when they were not sure what to buy....Every single one of them thanked me for doing it.

The best sounding German V8 is the AMG 63 from Mercedes. I don't have sound on my current computer, so I'll let someone else find a video.

Glass pack are dumb to me. If you want sound, just use a hack saw. If you want performance, buy an engineered exhaust system from a reputable company.
