Just curious. I run OCI of 10k on 3 vehicles using Amsoil ATM10w30 based on UOAs. Reason being is I maintain 5 vehicles and found it difficult to stay on schedule when I used dinos & 3-5K OCI.

I would if I could. When I switch back from a racing-oriented engine oil to a more street-oriented one, I'll be stretching my OCIs as long as I reasonably can, and my goal is to exceed 10k safely.

My parents are going by their OLMs, which take them past 10k miles on the factory oils (Mobil 1 0w-40 in one case, BMW High Performance Synthetic 5w-30 in the other).

I used M1 in my 2000 Chevy Silverado for years. Worked perfectly. I love the easy-to-remember round numbers for OCI's. 190,000 200,000 210,000 and so on.

I do 10K OCI's all the time. Lot's of highway driving. I also find it is easy to track on the OD. I just hit 300K! Time for another OC.

My last two vehicles have this as their factory recommended drain interval. I've been going 10,000 mile intervals for the past 11 years with not a single issue.

I follow the manufacturers recommendation for quality standard and viscosity and I use OEM filters. No problems at all.

My other car allows up to 15,000 miles or 1 year and I do the 1 year interval and have been doing this for the past 11 years on this car. Again, no issues whatsoever.

I have doing 10K OCIs for 32 years with various M1 oils, and have always had clean engines. I have a friend that is doing 15K OCIs with M1 EP. Just this last weekend he came over and did an OC with 15.5K and the oil looked great. No grit in OC pan and the oil still had that dark amber colar. With 114K on his engine it is still very clean.

Mind providing the make/model of your vehicles?

I went a lil over 10 on GC in my V6 Audis a few times. I was paying for dealer OC, so it seemed to make sense. Anymore, it's a DIY and usually less miles.

10k miles is the factory interval on both my cars, a 2006 VW Golf TDI and a 2000 VW Beetle TDI. I use OEM (Mann, Bosch or Hengst as of late) full flow filters, synthetic CJ-4 5w40 oil and don't give it a second thought. My last OCI on my Golf was 23k km (~14k miles) and it was only changed due to an imminent move to Baltimore where I do not have a garage.

I'm adding a bypass filter to the Golf (an excellent kit from dieselgeek), and won't bother doing UOA to see how the oil is holding up until at least 20k km. I'm hoping to extend oil changes out to at least 35 - 40k km with it installed, depending on usage (also installing an OEM european trailer hitch).

One year or 25,000 miles using AMSOIL SSO 0W-30 and EaO filters.
On the Caravan that my wife drives, we average about 23,000-25,000miles each year.

on a 7500 OCI schedule now, just did a couple UOA's to get the data i needed to go 10k.

for those doing 10k+ do you have any UOA's posted? if so please provide the link. i would be interested in seeing these. thnx.

Count me in.

I do 10,000 on the Mazda and Ford.

My mom does the Mini/BMW recommended 15,000 on her Cooper.

My dad does 1 year on his 911 which usually ends up over 10,000.

In SC I would imagine most of your driving hway. If that guess is correct you can do extended oci. I keep track of 5 cars, via the label on the windshield, which gives me the necessary info and I keep that in mind. Extended oci comes mostly from websites like this, mfg generally do not reccommend what you see from suggestions and examples of uncles and friends who have pure clear oil after 12,000 miles. My humble suggestion you keep within the guide lines of the mfg. suggests and take with a grain of salt re. suggestions from

threads on websites, and people you meet in diners.

10K here. Old Hondas are easy on the oil. Perhaps surprisingly, Honda's recommended OCI, for oil of any sort, is a relatively long 7,500 miles. 10K on a good syn is no biggie. I plan to test the TBN at the next change and may well push to 12K.

whaaaaat? oem suggestions are made to account for the carappi-est oil one could buy. if the dentist says to only chew sugarless gum for 10 chews, do follow his advice or do you chew until the gum is no longer good? either way, doesnt hurt your teeth at all. if you pay for oil then might as well extract every dollar out via usage.

I'm on my third 10K OCI with Schaeffer's 9000 on a 2006 Toyota Avalon. After another 3 OC's, I'll probably change to M1. Having to buy 2 cases + shipping + sales tax is foolish when M1 will probably do as well. We are not hard on cars.

On the other hand, I change every 6 mo in the '98 F150 whether it needs it or not. I use Havoline dino usually and the mileage rarely exceeds 3K-3.5K. I'll probably treat myself to a new PU before this one is broken in.

Thank you for that info on how mfg. guide their olm. I always wondered about that,

where did you find this info? I heard there was an article in Field and Stream mag once.

Manual says an OCI of 7,500 is appropriate for my driving, but I add at least two quarts of make-up oil in that time; so I'm considering an OCI of 9-10k..

..using PYB. Crazy? Maybe, but the car still runs great, and I'd imagine the top-off would bring some additives and TBN back to the mix.
