There are only a few manufacturers of oil filters out there, (3 maybe 4). a Fram & a Wix filter are made exactly the same, Fram just adds their own color/label and the "sure grip" top. If I can remember all the manufacturers I'll list them, But Champion Labs, & Honeywell Inc. make more than 50% of oil filters.
out of a batch of 20,000, maybe half will end up as "Napa", the rest might be pennzoil, valvoline, fram, firestone, jiffy lube, A/C Delco, etc......

I'm wondering if Wix P# 51334 is going to be the same filter as a NAPA GOLD or NAPA Silver or not the same at all??

If I'm trying to acheive the LEAST oil restriction but still a well built filter, which one should I go with from any manufacturer??

Any help on this one is greatly appreciated?

Do you have a problem with your engine? If not, buy your filter based on whatever criteria that you please. Price, fine filtration, ease of purchase..whatever. Unless you're flat shifting @ 7000 rpm (otherwise classified as "unusual") or have some high volume situation that's outside the OEM spec's ..don't worry about restriction. It's not any issue of merit for 99% of the rolling population, imo.

I've used fram filters a few times in my jeep 4.0 and EVERYTIME my oil pressure nearly drops to zero at idle

Back off, I have a flamethrower and I dont care how bad you feel. You should feel bad for telling a lie anyways.

Let this be a warning to those darn fram bashers.
"no oil pressure"

Talk it up, id like to see a picture of your pressure gauge at idle.

It's just the Fram racing heritage rubbing off on his engine. The oil so effortlessly travels through it with the addition of a Fram filter ..that no pressure needs to be developed. It's really a secret added feature that most don't really know about. They're really not worthy ..so it's not much of a loss.

Yeah and I quit working for Pennzoil after they started using wax.

Anyone can say the worked for Fram and make that up.

Anybody know who makes this filter? I pulled this out of my Saturn when I first got it. I replaced it with a Super Tech when I did an oil change.

Oil filter

I dunno if this is them ..but sure looks like it. This won't tell you who makes it ...but

Good work. So we can assume that Promotive has TVI badge a private label using TVI numbers? I would suspect so.

who makes napa pro select filters ? are they the same as napa silver ? just to confirm? i believe they're all WIX made....?

NAPA brand filters, AFAIK, are all produced by WIX. The only WIX spec'd filter is the NAPA Gold. All others produced by Wix FOR NAPA are NAPA spec filters and not spec'd by WIX. WIX only offers ONE level of quality for every automotive part number (there are some XD/HD alternatives for some heavy equipment numbers).

So, in the sense of a square is a rectangle ..but a rectangle isn't a square type thing, Even though WIX may make all the NAPA labeled filters, only the NAPA Gold is a WIX.

ok so what is the loss of using a napa pro select vs using a napa gold or wix filter? is there less media, different media, or some other construction difference?
