Maybe just a badluck but I used GTX 5w30 in my new Montana 2002 for 2 oil changed following the OLM and I noticed some varnish build up on my dipstick , furthermore I saw on both occasions some black deposit at the bottom of the jug.
After that I started to use either canadian tire oil or pennzoil. I cleaned the stick and the varnish never showed up again.

What the? What are you talking about? Not calling you a liar, but I've NEVER heard anyone ever say this about Castrol. Anyone else ever notice this issue with Castrol GTX and varnish and/or black deposits in the bottom of the jug?

Thanks again Bill! How long do you figure it'll take you to run through those two intervals?

I'll keep you informed. I'm seeing that the more miles the car gets put on it, the harder the wife drives it...![]()
She starts it up and takes off, does the 30 mph shift into first since she is coming up to a stop signand you make comment and watchout!![]()

I almost think I should start "pre-warming" up her car for her sometimes, by taking it on a short drive before she drives it!

Maybe the OLM was the problem. Perhaps it's just another sign that these extended drains the OLM is allowing goes to show that conventional oil needs to be changed on a shorter, non-OLM oci.... (???)

I'm on my third OCI of GTX in my 2002 Cavalier. Only reason I'm using it is b/c the garage I have been going to for repairs..etc.. has a killer price on oil changes using GTX: $15.95 for 10W-30, and $20.95 for 5W-30, and they use NAPA Gold filters, as opposed to FRAM clones. Great deal!

I know, I know....there shouldn't be a price difference, but when the price is that low to start, doesn't bother me. They can't be making money on the $15.95 changes....
