I try to get mine done ASAP because I really need my money back, you know, the money I loaned to my uncle Sam w/o interest.
I'm getting about $7K back, combined fed and state. that's even w/ reducing my weekly withholding last year. the new kid this year kicked in another $1K also.

I ran all my W-2's through turbotax this past weekend and I owe, as usual. I purposedly set my withholdings to owe the government a little money instead of the big refund check. I don't believe in giving them a interest free loan. This is the first year I won't be able to itemize so all those donations I gave to goodwill was a waste. Next time, I'm having a garage sell.

I always do my own with TurboTax. Last year, I did mine too soon. I thought I had everything, was getting a refund, and efiled in Jan. A few days later, I received 2 straggling 1099s I wasn't expecting. This year, I will wait until the middle of Feb. I'm getting a refund from Uncle Sam, but I have to pay some to Aunt Kansas.

I may be able to catch up on the fuel/water/sewer/trash bill ..and pay forward some future anticipated upramps in costs. Property taxes are due to take on an exponential up-slope. It's all very Prêt-à-Porter, when I think about it. It's perfectly timed to assure that I see absolutely no relief from having the mortgage paid off.

It's all about power factors. The phase relationship is too far out of whack. It's like approaching the speed of light. I just can't dump enough mass to keep up with the added burden.

Immutable universal constants. ID is perfection in its ability to defy being trumped.

Oh, boy. What if you don't get a refund?

I completed and e-filed my federal and state returns on Monday evening, using Taxcut software. I've used Taxcut for the last 5 years, and it's been great. The US federales owe me some, and AL has an IOU with my name on it as well.

God forbid you donate something without personal gain.

I did mine 2 weeks ago. But I do taxes for a living, so that helps (but hurts for everything else!).

You guys that set your with holding so you owe on your 1040 - just be careful, cause if you're 10% (or more) under the total amount of tax you owe at year end, you can get hit with penalties. You have to have at least 90% of your taxes paid throughout the year from with holding or estimated payments.

I didn't intentionally overset my withholding, but I did end up within a just a few dollars of the penalties. Oops.

Yea, it's no big deal if it's a little under. You should see the interest and penalties I've seen from people who make six figures and haven't paid their taxes for several years!

People also get screwed when they sell expensive property such as houses and don't make an estimated payment. Take for example, my parents

So, let me get this right. Your dogging me because I made donations with the intent of receiving a tax break? Oh, wait, I'm suppose to just throw out my hard earned money when my wife just got laid off and I'm having a hard time paying bills and keeping a roof over my family's head? Listen up, I'm not one of those folks whom are going to file bankruptcy, skip out on bills, let them foreclose on my house and continue living there without paying a dime until they kick me out. So I'm looking into LEGAL ways to try and offset my taxes to help me survive, but yet, you got to be a SMART ARSHE and make some STUPID ARSHE REMARK ABOUT IT???? *** dude????????????????????????????

I wish! Tax returns like that are a couple grand of billable work.

Too bad I couldn't do Tim Guitner's return. He uses Turbo Tax.
