which VW 502 oil? or Redline

Hi, I am new in this forum, and I think this forum great

I want to ask what oil is the best for my car(2006 Audi A4 2.0 TFSI with 34.000miles)i live in Indonesia(tropical hot climate)
1. Mobil 1 0w40 fullsyn
2. Total Quartz 9000 5w-40(elf excellium NF)
3. Shell Helix Ultra 5w-40
4. Agip Extra HTS 5w-40
5. Petronas Syntium 3000 LL 5w30(Longlife oil)
6 Shell Helix Ultra AB 5w30 (Long life oil)
7. RED LINE 5w-40 / 5w30
all are VW.502 approved except Red Line

Last time, I fill my car with Elf excellium SM 5w30(ACEA A1, GF4), the car runs much better with good improvement on gas milleage, but I read that this engine is very tough on oil and burns oil very fast, sludge problematic, high fuel dillution, and sludging the valve intake manifold with the wrong oil...
So I wonder if you guys can help me to choose what oil will be good for TFSI engine..

I will chime in before our FSI guru saaber1 post. It looks like Redline 5W-40 shows the best used oil analysis for this engine. Most of the VW 502 oils don't cut the mustard. If you can afford Redline 5W-40 for every oil change. Then stick with it.

Finklejag hit it on the head. I would add that we had one outstanding UOA of Brad Penn 10w30 and that for cars that see 95% highway miles, 502 oils and 10k intervals seem adequate based on the used oil analysis.

Not being in the U.S. your car may suffer from less fuel dilution due to running in the lean burn mode (I'm assuming Indonesia uses the burn mode common in Europe). However the valve deposit issue and flat tappet follower issue are still concerns.

Whatever oil you choose you may want to think about the oil having 1200ppm zinc or more for the cam follower. For the valve deposit issue (in terms of the oil's effect on it anyway), quantity and quality of viscosity modifiers, volatility, and shear stability are some things to think about.

Based on what I have seen most PAO-based 502 oils are going to perform similarly. The UOA posted below is of a car that ran 2 Motul 8100 502 oils previously and then ran redline, an ester-based (a least partially) strong additive oil. The ester oil showed much better in terms of viscosity, flashpoint, and wear metals.

I always put 95octane fuel to my car,
My driving condition is 90% city drive and 10% highway drive
Is the fuel dilution will be a big problem for me?

Is it ok to mix:
3Bottles of RED LINE 5w-40 with 1Bottles of Mobil DELVAC 5w-40(diesel) oil to boost the zinc level?

One more question
Is using a long life oil(mid to low saps oil) is bad for this engine?

The redline has about 1400ppm zinc so no need to boost it IMO. I am not sure what the delvac zinc levels are but I would guess 1400-1600? so there is little benefit and when mixing there is always some risk of adverse reactions among the additives as I understand it. So there is a possibility that mixing can do more harm than good.

When I ran 90% city I had a lot of fuel dilution but US cars don't run in lean burn mode, so it may not be as bad for you there.

Does anyone know why Redline is not a "VW 502 approved" oil? Was there some cost of certification that Redline did not want to pay or something like that? I want to start using Redline, but if it's not "approved", will there be a warranty issue?

It exceeds some the parameters for a Euro oil. There is probably some cost involved too.

As far as warranty issues, it might be hit-or-miss.

If your vehicle is still under warranty and you care about the warranty then I'd use an approved VW 502 oil. If your vehicle is out of warranty and/or you don't care about your warranty then you can pick any oil that you like but the problem is no one can tell you which oil is "best" for your engine unless they have conducted the VW 502 or other oil test sequence on all oils of interest. Audi specifies the VW 505.01 spec oils for the RS models so you might want to consider it in a 5W-40 viscosity to deal with the heat issues in your locale?

A UOA does not tell you which oil lubricates your engine best, it only tells you what the proper OCI is for the oil. To actually know which oil performs best in your engine then you'd need to run the expensive and time consuming oil test sequence that car makers conduct to determine the oil requirements for a given engine.

Yes I agree with you, but my car is out of warranty so I go for redline 5w-40 as saaber reccomend,
But FYI all that oil I listed above are all Hydrocracked oil except Mobil 1 and petronas syntium LL(maybe PAO)..
So I think red line should do better because its ester based oil
