This Chinese Chipper (
On a lark, took out the no name chinese spark plug and since I had some Bosch automotive plugs (new and unused in a box since 10 years ago), inserted a Bosch and it fired right up and runs steady.

Now, I have no idea what is the correct type of plug to use so assuming I can get away with using a Bosch, what damage may this incur on the engine or my plan to continue to use this chipper at least for another couple years ? Will the wrong plug cause some type of higher temperature or burn out some other component ? Paid just 200 for the thing and while it's not pretty, it does the job well and I replace the oil with 20W 50 Castrol GTX every 3 months, cheap due to small quantity of less than 1 Qt.

Assuming the plug is the same physical size and resistance type, a too hot plug will make a hole in piston or melt it. A too cold plug will foul itself. What kind of plug did you fit? Do you know operating rpm?

Pull the plug and look , you can tell if they are too cold, too hot, or just right. Better too cold than too hot.

Chinese plugs come in a lot of portable generators. I was told to pull them out and replace with a brand name plug, so I did on my old 5 yr wheel horse chin generator,,still running.

If skyactiv's cross reference doesn't yield anything you could assume the engine is a Honda GX190 clone, which uses an NGK BP5ES.

Go to the local Honda OPE dealer and ask for a spark plug for the 5.5 HP engine.

My chondas all have a 3/4 or 19mm reach, 14mm threads, and a crush washer. This is popular if not the most popular with cars too.

You can tell how hot or cold a plug is by how deep the "tunnel" is inside the threads for the ceramic middle to go up. Most car plugs are pretty cold, so with you running it presumably hard you shouldn't foul. I actually stuck an old plug from my Volvo in a chonda and it liked it fine, not too picky.
