Which oils are exceptional to you?

Penrite is like unobtanium here, and Castrol is THE most expensive oil on the shelves. 132 euro for 5 litres edge is going price.

Here Mobil is the expensive oil.
Mobil 1 5w30 is $100 for 5L
Mobil 1 0W-40 is $113 for 5L

You are always better off buying Castrol, Penrite, Valvoline and Shell.
The GTL Shell Helix Ultra 5W-40 is $65 for 5L (full retail) and I can get it from a distributor for $36 for 5L. That's a big difference.
 
There are two oils I find exceptional;
For meeting specs at VFM I like TripleQX (people seem to think its rebadged shell?!)
For performance and protection nothing beats Redline.

Yes, these are the ones I was thinking about.
They have different approaches to formulating than most other oils out there.

I like that. After all, exceptional circumstances might require an oil within certifications. And, it's also rather exceptional, to say the least, to be putting Red Line or some other boutique in a grocery getter.

That's the only time you should buy oil from a place like that, is when its on special. Otherwise, its overpriced.

Reference: Check their sale price against a regular price at Walmart or Amazon. You just might never shop there again.
 
Pennzoil Ultra Platinum 5w30

In the Ford 5.4, there is a potential for the engine to burn the oil. My truck has no leaks but loves to burn the oil. When I switched to PUP however, the oil burn is significantly reduced. I would have to put a qt of Valvoline Maxlife High Mileage in every 1,000 miles. With Ultra, I am putting a quart in every 2,500 miles. For an engine with 169,xxx miles on it, that's amazing!

Believe it or not, PUP is also an outstanding high mileage oil.

Redline brand oils are exceptional and amazing and phenomenal, but you would need to actually put it in your engine to see why the ranting and raving is well worth it on how outstanding that oil is.
 
Has a Red Line oil given you hundreds of thousands of miles in a vehicle where an approved lube otherwise would not have? Show me some examples here. I've used Quaker State Conventional for hundreds of thousands of miles in fleet usage, in the approved viscosity. And, given that it did so at a quarter the price of Red Line and at double the OEM OCIs, that seems to be to be pretty exceptional and amazing and phenomenal, and worthy of ranting and raving about how outstanding it is.

But you didn't have the privilege of paying way more than than you needed for the oil! You don't have the chest-thumping bragging rights that those who bought the expensive boutique oils have. Just look at what you're missing by using the boring old Quaker State.

Funny bc these oils are not exceptional to me at all. Maybe RL due to the POE content.

I've done that, not only in the engine but in the transmission.

What was I supposed to see that shows me it is outstanding? If there was something then I missed it maybe. Tell me.

Exactly. I have no beefs whatsoever with Red Line and they make some fantastic products. The vast majority of us don't own applications or have usage patterns that justify the use of those engine oils.

My Delvac 1 even, right now, is a third to one quarter the price of Red Line oil up here. Red Line would have to do something very fancy to justify that to me in my G37, where Delvac 1 is already overkill.
