A single oil for all these cars?

Hi All. I am trying to make things easier when ordering oil for the 4 cars that I service in our household. I'm also trying to buy a single type because I can buy large 20l boxes / tubs rather than 4 x 5l ones.

These are the cars, and what oils the "Castrol What Oil" website recommends for them.
  • Peugeot 107 Non-Turbo Petrol - Castrol Magnatec 5w-30 (ACEA C2)
  • Honda Civic 1.6 Turbo-Diesel - Castrol Magnatec 5w-30 (ACEA C3)
  • Ford Fiesta ST 1.5 Turbo Petrol - Castrol Magnatec 5w-20E (ACEA C5)
  • Suzuki Ignis 1.2 Non-Turbo Mild Hybrid - Castrol Magnatec 5w-30 (ACEA A5)

So, the C3 requirement on the Civic requires a HTHS of >3.5. So that rules out using a C2, or C5 oil as those are too low. However, my understanding is that the higher the HTHS is, the better wear protection is at a slight cost to MPG?

C2, C3, and C5 all have a "Mid-Saps" requirement. So that checks out. The A5 has High-SAPS, but low won't matter as long as the HTHS is still good?

The A5 has a higher TBN requirement. Which I believe is only an issue during longer oil change intervals as that's the amount of "buffer" the oil has to creation of acid over time?

So, with all that in mind, the oil which I am thinking would work well would be............

Fuchs Titan GT1 Flex C3/C4 5W-30. - Link
  • HTHS >3.5
  • Low-Saps (So fine for all the emissions kit on the Civic & Fiesta)
  • 5w-30 (So a little thicker than the 5w-20) in in the Fiesta ST (No issue in my mind?)
  • Available in 20L Lube Cubes so I can do all 4 cars with 1 box.
  • TBN (according to Google AI) or 7.4 so very close to the 8.0 that the Suzuki requires for it's A5 oil.
Can anyone see an issue with that choice for those 4 cars? I think I've done my due diligence here, but I'd like other peoples expert opinion.

Thanks!

I just happen to be here first, but there are many here smarter than I am on this. Here are 2-3 of my recommendations. I would use a 0W-30. I don't know the availability or price of the Mobil 1 ESP in the UK but it is a good one also. These are all ACEA C3. The Mobi1 1 and Motul are mid saps the Liqui Moly 4210 is low saps.

The Feista's wet oil pump belt would a big concern for me. I think those went to wet belts in 2020.
That's something I was worried about but my Dads is an early 2019 with the smaller sump volume which I guess is prior to them changing to a wet belt. 🤔 There is an earlier small sump and a newer larger sump from what I can tell based on the fill volumes so I'd think that was the change point (that's around 2020 as well).

I think the change over was in the 2019 model year. Early 2019 should be the gear driven pump, in which case you're good.

I'll see if I can find an pictures online of the sumps or something and that may confirm it. 👌 Good shout though and well worth a check!
