I think the one in the red container is the one you want. I think the one in the black container is for imports I believe. You'll just have to read the label.

Lubegard has two uses.

1) Use it as a converter to convert a standard ATF into an ATF that'll work for a variety of applications, such as ATF+4, Mercon V, Honda ATF Z-1, Toyota T-IV, etc.

For this purpose, you use the Lubegard "Black" HFM additive.

2) If you are already using the correct ATF for the application, you add Lubegard "Red," which is a protectant.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but IIRC, silver is like the Black and Red formulas combined.

ahh. i just remember the jiffy lube i worked at had the silver bottles. we used it to make atf good for everything except some brand new stuff that shouldnt even need the trans fluid changed in anyways

People have been hung in the Rear/Trans forum for speaking of this stuff as a modifier for non-spec fluid

But since you're only doing it to an already properly spec'd fluid ..you'll only get tarred and feathered..

Tread with caution

Yes they have...and I still believe that this product of.. make Dextron oil into what you need ATF is dangerous.

It makes the quick lube and autoshops carry only one ATF stock. Then when they are servicing a Mopar...use the Mopar additive, if you have a Ford...use the Ford additive. etc.etc. There is not any data that suggest it works or does not work.

Just my opinion....

Over the years, I have used Lubegard "Red" in several different transmissions, and in every one I could immediately feel a difference in how it shifted. The shifts were smoother. It must be more than just a protectant.

Lubegard took care of the torque convertor shudder issues in my 97 F-150. It is a fairly well documented problem and a pretty well know solution as well. This is one of very few additives of any sort I will use as I do not believe in snake oil solutions. But to my surprise it worked. Have been using it the last three changes on the tranny fluid. The shudder has never returned.
