Our old 99 sable was damaged several years back with citgo's massive excess does of sulfer. At first the fuel gauge was dead then after using cleaner, redline I believe it started working again. Though everafter it floated around bout 1/4 tank that it never did before. So you wouldn't want to get very low if your driving patterns changed and you couldn't go by miles driven.

If the problem is deposits, yes, Techron Concentrate Plus has been been known to work for some people. It won't fix a shorted, or a bad connection to the sending unit, or other mechanical/electrical problem.
