Not "bashing" (Webster's: "to beat violently"), but there are at least three, maybe four, disliked marketing traits of certain manufacturers:
1 Castrol - for the (faux) synthetic designation that obfuscated the oil grading system.
2 Fram - for the cardboard endcaps and overall poor filter structure. (Except XGs).
3 Valvoline - because the arrogant phrase "mechanics who know, use Valvoline," irritates many BITOG'ers.
4 Amsoil - for religious-like arrogant intensity of devoted users (uh, and I'm slowly becoming one!).
