Another thread, someone asked for some pics of an Oz oil shelf, particularly the 40-70...not commentary, just what's on the shelves...

That 20W-60 and 40-70 are way heavier than anything I ever saw here in the U.S.A.

Must be some serious heavy oils for the extreme 'Stralia HOT summers.

I used to be not a fan, when they automatically recommended a "plus 10" viscosity for everything.

Now I am a fan, they have the certs that they claim, have a vast range (this is only one chain, if I went to Repco, they've got a few different lines.

Thay actually HAVE a technical department,, getting a lot of ex Mobil engineers when Mobil dropped tech support.

Edit...
Got their synthetic 75W90 in all three compartments in the Captiva Drive train, and the Enviro 5W40 C3 in the Colorado. The Enviro 5W30 is lower HTHS.

Those are for those Mad Max vehicles.

Does this mean gear oils are 120W-180

Also, I don't think 10 liter jugs would sell here. I think we just go from 5 liter jugs to 5 gallon pails.

40-70 is a MAN'S oil ! Aussies who run 40-70 are the kind of guys that roll their own cigs and definitely, definitely don't drink Fosters !!

Compare the spec of two oils literally 10 feet apart on the Shelves...
Nulon 0W16

Penrite HPR50

The first is 37.6Cst - at 40C
The second is 30.5Cst - at 100C.

The 10s are pretty handy IMO, they've got a tap and being square sit well on the shelf...more handy than the 20L for sure.

The 10s with the tap I find handy for the odd sized sumps where it takes more than 5L (although sometimes yo can find 6 which works better for the Captiva and Colorado).

Also good for keeping frankenbrew leftovers.

Thank you for the pictures. Wow that is a wide selection! Everything from 5w20 to 40-70

Wait, why is it 40-70 and not 40w70? Did you read the back of the label to find a disclaimer *this is not a 40w70 oil?

Shannow, thanks for taking the time taking and posting the pics. I read a lot of great reviews about Penrite. Didn't know the nexus to Pennsylvania. Weird, the UK and North America were connected. I really like Old Man Emu products among other items. Especially your ammo: ADI, very accurate stuff. I've never been disappointed with anything ever made in Australia. Just the cost due to location.

Love the accents!
