What's in your grease gun???

In my big one - WD-40 Specialist multi-purpose. The small one was hand-packed with Red Line CV2. Both calcium sulfonate greases.

Mystik 460 in my big G Gun, as well as one pistol gun. Mystik JT6 Semi Synthetic in another pistol gun for when the super tough/adhesive 460 is a little too much (like higher speed bearings).

Does anyone else remember that five gallon bucket of grease with the big stick ? We'd fill the grease guns using that stick. Or, grab a handful and pack wheel bearings. Or whatever. We never gave a thought as to what kind of grease it was. Grease was grease. Used it for anything that needed "grease". Take a little bit and dissolve it in diesel fuel and use it for "penetrating oil"

;)

After years of nothing but Motorcraft long life from working at a dealership, I put a tube of MFA oil Sho-Me grease into my grease gun.

And today, another tube of:

Mystic JT-6 high-temp.

It's a 4-year-old tube of grease that was sitting on the shelf in the man cave (inside).
Does it ever go bad ? What's the realistic shelf life on grease that sits in an environment-controlled area ?
