What's in your grease gun???

I ended up ordering both greases. I got the Timken automotive wheel bearing grease for the wheel bearings and chassis components. For the u-joints, driveshaft slip joint, and double cardan CV ball I got the Spicer grease.

I got the Spicer SPL1051 grease and loaded it in a new Lincoln grease gun.

It's a blue-green color. That is odd, because the grease that Spicer puts in their US-made SPL series u-joints from the factory is red. Besides being synthetic, it uses a calcium sulfonate soap. That should give it superior water resistance vs lithium based greases, much like a marine grease. This grease is strictly for my driveline parts: u-joints, double Cardan CV balls, and slip joint splines.

Still waiting on the Timken wheel bearing grease. It's on BO, and should ship Friday. We'll see.....

It’s not often that I change cartridges as I only grease two trucks but today was the day!

In: Motomaster Formula 1 Synthetic.

This is the Canadian Tire store brand made by Citgo and is the same as Mystik Synthetic AFAIK. I used to use Mobil 1 Synthetic, but unfortunately like many others, I found it to be too drippy. Inside my old cartridge was a bit of grease that I swiped out and put into an empty, clean spice jar. I’ll do a drip test this summer. By the way, I searched this thread for Formula 1 Synthetic and found I loaded a cartridge in 2018, 2020 and now, for a rough average of one every two years.

Loaded up a tube of Mobil 1 Synthetic Grease to grease dads truck last weekend. The plastic tube made it harder to slide in the grease gun and it was coming out as we loaded it which was a little bit of a pain.

Schaeffer 274 in my lever grease gun for use with kingpins on my truck and other suspension components.
Supertech marine grease in my pistol grip grease gun for less important tasks. That Schaeffer 274 made a huge steering effort reduction compared to the Supertech grease when I greased the kingpins in my truck with it. It stays in there longer too.

Have several guns with Amsoil polymeric off road grease, pistol grip, lever action and pneumatic. Use it for suspension and steering components on the vehicles, tractors and ATVs.

Have one pistol grip running Amsoil synthetic multi purpose grease. I use it for universal joints, mower deck spindles etc. When it runs out I am going to try the polymeric truck and chassis grease.

I also have one pistol grip with John Deere SD polyurea grease. Have been using this for un sealed wheel bearings for the past couple years with good results. I have some Philips Polytac EP #2 to try when the Deere grease runs out.

Out : Chevron Delo EP2. Thanks Chevron for discontinuing my go to grease for the last 20 years and not offering anything close in spec to replace it.
