What's better for storage - Sta-Bil or seafoam?

^^^ 20 years ago ... no worries today. 😄
Exactly. The stuff dissected around here that creates a tidal wave based on one-off occurrences and info from other forums decades ago, literally, amazes me. It's NOT difficult to do quick 'net searches and save all kinds of stress.

I use Stabil 360 Marine (the blue-green one) along with a shot of 2-cycle oil (mixed at 1oz per 5gal). Put both in a 5 gal can and fill at the local gas pump. Mix it up and use it to fill your motorcycles for the last few rides of the season. Then top off the tanks with it. If you have carburetors, turn off the gas and run them dry, then drain them. Any gas left will evaporate and leave a thin oil film to protect against corrosion. In the spring, just start up and go ride. Never an issue. I use this mix in both motorcycles and all my small engines. This has worked well for me for over a decade.

I too had issues with the red stabil. I would dry out and crystalize in the fuel system. The marine 360 stabil seems to do much better.
That’s what I use. I never had issues with stabil red, but I prefer the marine with a bit of tcw-3, including for low use gasoline cars.

It’s not.

Direct from Seafoam's web page:

*stabilize tank fuel*
Add at least 1 oz of Sea Foam per gallon in the tank. For best results, run the tank down until there’s about a gallon of fuel left, and add an entire 16 oz can of Sea Foam Motor Treatment to the tank.

Run the engine long enough for the treatment to work through the entire fuel system (about 5-10 minutes of idling).

From there, you can either store your bike with the fuel tank partially empty or full. Sea Foam will stabilize your fuel for up to two years.

I had bad luck with Stabil. Still had gummed up carbs. Switched to Star Iron product. Seemed to work well. Now I use the canned fuel. With OPE run the gas tank dry and put in canned fuel and run it through the system and shut down. Starts right up in the spring.

This. Used canned, synthetic fuel.

I've never had personal success with stabilizers and I've never seen a test that shows the results we all expect. I've used a handful of brands in the past decades but I think it's mostly placebo. You might feel just a good running Slick50.

Stabil 360 Marine is probably one of their top tier anti-oxidants.
Yes, I noticed the Marine 360 is much more concentrated compared to their standard product and why the higher price difference for the same size bottle. I assume that is because many marine fuel tanks are much larger than automobiles.(oops, old thread)

True but cost about the same, The marine version is much more concentrated
I had a client who was using Stabil Marine in his boat, OPE and new Deere riding mower. I had to change the Deere fuel filter five times, and run the tank dry before the Deere would run reliably again (on fresh gas). This is when I started to realize that "fuel stabilizer" was part of the problem.

At present I cannot recommend any brand of "fuel stabilizer". Use synthetic fuel for storage purposes.
