California has the best consumer protection laws.







And the highest prices to go with it.


I'm not being judgemental. I'm a landlord with some of the most ludicrous rental laws in North America. It makes the market extremely non-competitive. If rentals were deregulated, I'd probably have to drop my rent $3-400 per month.

My mechanic is mobile, charges half the local rates, and does not mark up his parts. Needless to say, he's rather busy, so any work by him (that I can't/won't do) needs to be planned a few weeks in advance.
