Trying to remove the gorilla-snot adhesive from a plastic door edge guard on the painted door of my car. Bug & Tar ain't gettin' it, turpentine with a ridiculous amount of elbow grease is barely working. There has got to be a better way?
I've used those to remove the adhesive from the cheesy plastic badging on my truck and I've also used WD-40 . Time and repeated applications will be needed .Goo gone or goof off. Takes multiple applications. Time is your friend - apply, wait, wipe, repeat.
Goof off isn't paint safe.Goo gone or goof off. Takes multiple applications. Time is your friend - apply, wait, wipe, repeat.
I stand corrected. Goo gone then. I thought they were the same?Goof off isn't paint safe.
I'd use goo gone or wd40
I used Goof Off on my truck . It's been a year and there is no visible signs of it's use . AND the label says it's ok ...Goof off isn't paint safe.

This is what i would try first or a citrus based cleaner in general.Schaeffer's Citrol is a citrus based product which is usually safe for painted surfaces.
Agree with the heat gun. I've had hair dryers work in a pinch. One more for GooGone. Plus - heatgun, if available.
I have as well - but I will defer to the others here.I used Goof Off on my truck . It's been a year and there is no visible signs of it's use . AND the label says it's ok ...
Its likely not goo gone - its likely residual adhesive that goo gone softened and your sponge moved around.I now have another issue. How do I get the goo gone residue off the paint?
Goof Off does not remove paint .Goo gone. NOT GOOF OFF. That will take paint off. 3M good too.
