So today I went to my local Walmart today to get some Quaker State Ultimate Durability and Pennzoil Ultra, to take advantage of the current rebates on them. PU was $26.50, and the rebate is $25. But they did not have PU in 5W30, so I got PP ($24.xx - $3 coupon), which has a $20 rebate.

Now I'm wondering if I shouldnt' try another local Walmart (I need to run an errand tonight and go right by one - though it is ghetto) and see if they have PU in 5W30 and return the PP? Note: the $3 coupon was good for PU or PP, though I don't know if it would be on the jugs at this other Walmart.

So, keep the PP, or check out the other store for PU?

Hmmm...

I'd actually make about two dollars with the PU (if there is another $3 coupon, otherwise spending $1.50). I'd be spending about a dollar and a half with keeping the PP. It is just the hassle. This after the rebates.

I was lucky enough to pick up two jugs of Pennzoil Ultra 5w30 using the coupon and rebate.
I might get a third.
Still, the PP is good stuff, and with coupon and rebate is certainly still a great deal.

I kept the PP and the rebate is in an envelope (along with the Quaker State Ultimate Durability one) and ready to be mailed. I don't like going to Walmart unless I have to.

I use PP too, when I can find it on sale.

They are the rebates you get for signing up for their warranty programs. They are doing the same thing that Valvoline started a year or a little more ago.

For Pennzoil:

For Quaker State:

You need to have a vehicle (or VIN, I guess it doesn't HAVE to be your vehicle) six years old or newer. IIRC from the rebate you can only do one of each rebate per address (so, you can't get three or four jugs of PP, for example. Or one PP, one PU, etc.). You get your rebate to print out after you register your vehicle.

Glum: I've alraedy done the Valvoline one with my two vehicles.
