What a trip that was! Unbelievable views! No problem breathing...I thought my wife would have some problems but she came through like a champ. About 60 degrees at the summit but felt a cooler due to the wind...I'll take it though...sign at base said 33 so I guess it warmed up a bit.
The Outlander has the auto/manual transmission so I was able to come down the mountain with barely using my brakes at all...at the mandatory brake check the ranger used the heat sensor and told me to keep doing whatever I was doing as the brakes were not even warm
You probably already know this but AVOID 25 between the Springs and Denver at night due to the paving they are doing...we got caught in it last night and tonight..jeeesh

Yeah, it was bad back in 1997-2001 too. Not that stretch, but various places, as they prepared to widen I-25 in the Transportation Expansion ("T-REX") project. I said at the time the real reason for calling it T-REX was that it was going to rear up and bite everybody in the ***.
Hey, at least CO actually does repave roads -- and at night instead of screwing up traffic only in the daytime! I wish NO could learn that!
