Getting ready to change the oil on my hijet. It has the KF-VE i3 dvvt 658cc engine. It revs for sure, redline is 7200 and it spends a lot of time above 5k :)
On the opposite end when I use it on the property it idles and slow speed drives a lot. I can't read the japanese manual :)
I have 15w40 hdeo and Castrol 0w40 on hand. The mira has the same/similar engine and it calls for 5w30 sn as far as I can tell.

Should I just use the Castrol or should I suck it up and get some 5w30 sn from wally world.

I am surprised they have such a small engine. I would run motorbike oil, a 4T synthetic of your choice.
I am assuming this is water cooled. That diesel goo will just sap power.

Because in Japan vehicles are taxed based on engine displacement and 660cc is a cutoff. At least that is my understanding.

Water cooled, fuel injection, variable valve etc. It's a modern engine. ~58hp an 44 ft/lbs if I am remembering correctly
