What oil is best for YOUR car?

Royal Purple and K&N filters are what I use. If I run a conventional oil for some reason it is generally Castrol GTX. Wix/Napa Gold( same filter )are my 2nd choice of filter brand.

I am running 6 qts 5w20 and 1 qt 5w30 Mobil 1 with a Mobil 1 filter on my F150. It is by far the quietest and coolest running oil that I have run so far. Tried PP but my truck burned 2 qts in a 2000 mile frame and I do not have any leaks.

Preferably it was the mineral Mobil 5w 30 before bitog. Afterwards curiosity never ceased and every change had been different but thinner side of the 5w 30 feels best, quiet and peppy. Longevity? I don't care... It's been 160K miles since 1984 starting with SF oils and occasional 20w 50 tortures.

My 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan (3.8L V6) has 65000 miles on it. Purchased new. I have used Havoline 5W-20 and 5W-30. I have used Motorcraft 5w-20 and 5W-30.
Sometime back, I switched to Pennz. Platinum 5W-30. Oil consumption was reduced from 3/4ths of a quart every thousand miles (using the dino oil) to only 1/2 qt in 3000 miles. Van seems to run smoother. Had a really good UOA with the PP. I run 5k oci's.
I am giving Castrol Syntec 5w-30 a try this go around. At 1200 miles, there seems to be some slight consumption. Depending on oil consumption, I will probably switch back to Pennz Platinum.

I am currently using Havoline (Non-DS formula) in my 1994 S15 GMC Sonoma. I have about two cases in stock. After completeing my Auto-Rx treatment and rinse phase, I will probably give SuperTech synthetic 5W-30 a try, using a 3k OCI.

I donno... I keep getting disappointed since becoming OCD about oil! I expect such great differences but it all works pretty well! My Honda has had GTX 5w20 and 5w30 and I can't tell the difference. I've tried PP 5w30 and it felt a little peppier and got a bit better gas mileage.

My Audi TT has had Synpower 5w40 and now RTS 5w40 and it likes the Rotella better. Same with the Rotella in my FJR bike. Rotella seems to live up to the hype.

Now, going forward, I'm planning to try GC, I have some M1 0w40, got a load of MaxLife 10w30 in the wife's van (can't tell a bit of difference), I've even got a couple of changes of straight 30wt to try this summer (Valvoline and Chevron), oh yeah there was that M1 15w50 I found on sale, and the M1 Turbo Diesel truck oil, the GTX Start up, QS Synthetic in the Ranger.... did I say I was a little OCD about oil?

You're not the only one, I haven't noticed any difference between Havoline, Valvoline or Amsoil 5W30's in my car. They all felt, started and performed exactly the same to me.

M1 5W20 for 02 Accord and 5W30 M1 or Val or Maxlife for all others. I tried 5W20 in my 92 corolla and the engine sounds rougher so that oil is too thin for 92 spec.
