What Oil for 2005 GMC Canyon 4x4 with 3.5l engine?

well i do about 20000km/year and up here we have hot summer months and cold winter months. What do you guys sugest for this engine. This is my first GM so im not to sure. Was goin to go with M1 and not too sure about the filter.
