What ? Newer ULTRA with the metal screen ...

Someone here said the XG2 hasnt been changed (or at least not yet)
That has been my experience as I hunted for some this week. All of the XG2s I found at my 2 local Walmarts have the "old" pinkish, wire mesh type media. The date codes are from 2023 as well.
Kinda makes me curious if they are leaving the larger diameter filters alone...like the mesh is helpful or necessary to the bigger sizes.

I would purchase the ULTRA XG 9688 and 7317 if returned to the metal screen . Bought the TITANIUM FS9688 which is in use with the '18 ACCENT . If the ULTRA remains w/o the screen , will stick to the TITANIUM w/ the metal screen . Don't know what brand of filter I would buy if the the TITANIUM went without . PUROLATOR ? 
Both XG,FE 9018 contains a metal screen for my cavalier but my choice would be the ultra. I just normally use the extra guard filter.
For some reason the ph2 and ph16 size of first brands filters seem to be oddballs, like the supertech filters in that size for a while and perhaps still are coming with a fram extragaurd style media cartridge in them instead of the standard champ ecore.
