Chris: Unless your using oil or have extream high miles read this:petroleum oil begins to break-down almost immediately. A high quality synthetic, on the other hand, can last for many thousands of miles without any significant reduction in performance or protection characteristics. Synthetics designed from the right combination of basestocks and additives can last almost indefinitely with the right filtration system. I found this in a book on oil. Dino juice is not that bad if you have to use it.

2002 Chevrolet Camaro 3.8L V6
Valvoline Maxlife 10W-30 and 10W-40 (trying the 40 now)
OCI: 3,000 miles, no time limit.
Supertech Synthetic Media Filter

1995 Buick LeSabre Limited 3800 V6 95,000 ML 50/50 City/Highway

6 Months / 5,000 ML - Texaco Havoline 10W-30 (New Formula) with Supertech Filter.

I end up with a little over a 1/2 QT of oil left when doing a oil change which I add around 3000 ml.

AC-DELCO PF52's on all three. At least for now. Everything is subject to change.

-2002 Mercury Sable Duratec 3L -gets 5w20 Exxon Superflo 5W20 + Lube Control. Its changed every 5000 miles. Using Motorcraft FL820S filter. My mechanic does the changes, because in Ohio, my driveway is usually covered in water or snow.

Reasons: Exxon Superflo is the cheapest 5W20 meeting Ford spec I can find, at $1.39/qt. It turns in good UOA with the Lube Control in. I'm thinking of extending my OCI to 7500, but that's another post.
