All vehciles changed at the manufacturers recommended interval of 3 months/3,000 miles. The manual says to use an SL and GF-3 rated oil and change it at 3 months/3,000 miles, so that is what I do. No sense in using Mobil 1, AMSOIL, or any other synthetic oil, just use anything that meets the specifications. Oil brand means absolutly squat IMO. The engine is designed to use an SL rated oil so use anyone you want. If you use an oil that meets the specs, the right viscosity, and change it at the recommended interval, you will not gain a thing buy using $5.00/qt. Mobil 1. So if the manual says to use a 10W30 viscosity, SL and GF-3 rated oil, and to change it at 3000 miles, do it with whatever the heck you'd like.
IMO the best way to get 100,000's of miles out of your car is to read the manual and follow ALL of the maintenance proceedures to the tee.
ie: if the manual says to flush your coolant every two years or 30,000 miles, do it ATLEAST that often. Same goes for all other fluids and proceedures. If you do this you will see many many happy miles out of your vehicle.
BTW I think many of us on here spend to much time thinking only about the oil and filter aspect of a car and forget about other things like flushing transmission fluid, brake fluid, tune ups, ect... Yes oil is the most needed and changed item on your car, but everything else should not be forgoten. Ok I'm done now.
