PP IS A GREAT OIL. I SEE PU LOOKS GOOD ON PAPER. I HAVE NOTHING AGAINST ANY EXCITEMENT ABOUT ANY OIL!!

I'm just thinking the proclamations a bit bold.

*The Pennzoil lawsuit against Amzoil about the "z" was pretty silly. Amsoil won.

I agree with you. I like Pennzoil and have no problem with it. Let me ammed that to say I REALLY LIKE Pennzoil. PU looks to be very good and I do get the interest in it but people are acting like they are young girls from the 60's at a Beattles concert. I can just picture some of these BITOGERS posting about PU with infatuation finding it on the shelf at a local store and screaming and fainting they are so excited.

It is just out of control with the way people are posting about it. Oh, so and so is going to run it in their stock car. I found PU at such and such for $$$$. Has anyone seen PU in "Insert City"? And as Pablo said my favorite is asking if it would be better than Redline at cleaning an engine out( how the heck would anyone know )? Does it hurt anything? Obviously not. Does it get a little annoying and old? Yup!

Good lord people it is JUST OIL! New oil we have no real world experience with to be sure it lives up to the hype on paper. Relax.

I wonder what would happen if Pennzoil pulled out all the stops and created a true top notch oil {group 4 or 5} to compete with the best oils out there like Redline/Amsoil/Motul.....people here might line up at midnight camping out in front of stores like they do at xmas time when a new playstation video game is about to be released???? What would Pennzoil call this product, Ultra Platinum? Maybe super ultra? Rhodium ultra?????

They should have pulled out all the stops, it would have sold much better. Put in the best base stocks, an elite add pack and call the oil "UltraPak", it would sell much better that way.

If an oil company "pulled out all the stops", no one would know it.

Think about it. How could you possibly find out? Are the oil companies just going to tell us "hey, we pulled out all the stops"? Would you believe them if they did?

And what do you think would happen next? Red Line, Amsoil, or Motul would come out with something else and say "no no, WE pulled out all the stops." Would you believe them then?

News flash: EVERYONE says they've "pulled out all the stops" in one way or another. We rightly dismiss that as marketing fluff. The problem is that the correct next step is to rely on objective measures, and most people don't even understand what that means.

There MIGHT be two or three people on this whole board that have the means and the expertise to:

1. Know what the "best" base stocks and add packs are
2. Test all the oils on the market and find out what they're made of

But the irony is, those are the people who truly understand that there's no such thing as one best oil for all engines because each engine needs something different...

Yep, the banner takes you to Platinum, I guess I should go buy Platinum then. Thats why I give there marketing campaign a D+ at this point.

Well, they already did. It was the original formulation of Platinum. It was supposed to trump PAO in that it was JUST as good for all the right reasons ..yet WAY CHEAPER to make.

It was gone before you knew it. I forget what its problem was. I think it was an EoP basestock. I think that they've been paying for the mistake ..or spending the pay off from XOM to take it off the market in the form of discounts.

They'd call it Shell Helix Ultra.
 
I bet a lot of these PU fanatics had to use a Kleenex after they saw the commercial on FOX for the 1st time............
