+1....It's all Kool-Aid, each just drinks the one that sounds the best.

I think what we are getting at is that there should be a forum that's more or less limited to objective, analytical oil talk, separate from the "Pennzoil Ultra is HERE!!!!!!!!!!!" type threads. And there's a place for those discussions too, maybe just in a different forum.

Or, people could just do what I've more or less done- quit looking at the PCMO forum for the most part and look first at the forums like the used oil analysis forum, Automotive General Topics, and Mechanical Maintenance.

Now if you look at the balance of Mobil 1, Pennzoil conventional, Valvoline, etc. threads, there are as many of those on the four pages I looked at as anyplace else.

This makes it tough for me o see the need to consolidate or move things around. If there are blatant analogous threads, please flag and they will be locked/combined to minimize parallel identical threads. However for the current moment at least, Im not seeing a real difference in threads for PU vs anything else.

One issue is how fast the PCMO section turns over. Maybe the search isnt the best, but workarounds definitely exist, and folks can look a few pages before they post too.

Here's some objectivity.

Methinks the topic of this thread is an eye-of-the-beholder thing.

I think it is funny that it has an edge like price (at intro) but not many of the edge like price complaints.

I understand what you are saying. Problem is, Idea #1 will not work. Too much moderation effort is needed and it segregates the community.

Idea #2 is the correct thing to do. Excellent idea. Don't waste free time reading posts and threads you don't like. After all, it's just motor oil, not life and death.

I can't wait until the used oil analysis start coming in and Jaws drop. Go get some and rack up the miles

Way I see it I work for my money and I'd ratherspend cash on a synthetic oil then give it to a lobbyist group

Man, you would think this stuff is the greatest oil ever the way so many are acting.

As it was with GC
As it was with PP
As it was with Edge
As it will be with something else in due time

Can the mods step in a bit here? Combine threads? Why do we need a new thread every time someone can or can't find it, or it's on discount, etc.?

Either start a whole PU section, "new" oil section, or one one long running thread.

It has gone crazy and I agree about trying to combine threads. I do not believe it needs its own section. No oil does.

well, of course, except for GC.

For new BITOG'ers, that's German Castrol 0w30 only available at Auto Zone in the USA. It's GREEN like Money. It's the bomb. It still is the bomb and it deserves not only it's only oil section, it deserves a Nobel Peace Prize, an Olympic Gold Medal and a place in the Rock n Roll hall of fame! It can cure cancer, send a man to the moon and even lubricate an engine! LOL

What other oil caused so much discussion here? What other oil did many of us chip-in to get a professional UOA performed? "Behold, the power of GC..." LOL

No have it have its own section too.

But you don't see the "enthusiasm"

of someone with Mobil 5000 or Pennzoil conventional as you see with PP or Mobil 1.
thankyou2.gif

So you would not have to have the sub sections as detailed on the conventional side.

I think has more to do with dino fading away as these new "CAFE" cars....but that is for another thread.

Though it is nice to see more synthetic use.....

Bold, but maybe.

Waiting until the used oil analysis come....

I think it's really rather simple. PP has turned in amazing used oil analysis time and time again proving itself in almost every app to be one of the best oil's available. Throw in some ridiculous promotions and rebate where people were getting it for $1 a quarts and you have a genuine oil star.

Now, we are getting a second generation PP oil. No doubt everyone feels this oil is a continuation on PP and what will be an improvement. This is hard to believe considering just how PP performed. So, there's your excitement.
