Mebe they weren't reliable, but I have a soft spot for Midgets and B's. But can they be dropped to their original ride heights and lose the terrible bumpers? Oh, and go back to twin carburettors?

They are fun cars. Mine is actually pretty reliable now.
If memory serves, the Midget does not have synchromesh on first gear... though it is geared so short that is not much of an issue. Maybe later models like yours DID get synchronized first-gear...
BTW, @Car guy , that combination of BRG + tan door cards, seats... is really aesthetic. The button-down hood covering the top, when it's dropped, is really neat and tidy. The Minilites/Panasports and the trunk rack, too, are classic. I also like Rosteel painted steel wheels, which may, if memory serves, have had trim rings...
