What if ARX is not cleaning everything?

R U trying it now with a maintenance dose? or have finished...It seems like three dose is enough but it does have a tinge that seems very darkish

It is a shame that the first photo down through the filler hole is not available. I agree that a bit more rinsing will improve things from an appearance standpoint.

I'm done with any cleaning with this engine (it has 171k). I'm very satisfied with the results. The darkest stuff you see there is the non-machined pourous parts of the cam.

Here's what you get when you actually get a brush and the normal "Safety Clean" type stuff in there and move the softened stuff around a little. As you can see, there is still a few stubborn stains that won't come out (look down the right side now for the same "streams of clean"). This, I have to conclude, didn't get exposed to Auto-Rx

Inicially, Iw as thinking PCV system while reading through the thread- but you say it is replaced and working properly- When you say replaced- do you mean that the valve was replaced- or all the tubes and everything?.... I guess, the real question is- are you actually getting the crankcase ventalation, or not... In some cercumstances, the return air-lines of the PCV system could get plugged up... in such a case, the valve replacement doesn't do any good.

I'd love to see follow-up pics after using LC for a period...eg. 1-5k mi...to see further differences....

I have an oil seperator that's attached to the pcv hose and it collects a good amount of oil, so I'm guessing the pcv hose is clear and not clogged..

here's an update on my situation, I emailed frank shortly after I posted this original topic in november of 2005. I was told to do an oil change and ran it for 3k miles and to see if it improves, well that 3k mile was up and I did an oil change..for some reason the valvetrain looks exactly the same when I posted the photos here..I started the truck with the filler cap off and the valvtrain pretty much gets flooded with oil so I know it's getting oil circulation up there but for some reason it's not getting cleaned by the arx..

When all else fails pull the valve cover and check for sludge.You might be assuming the engine has sludge and it is just dirty good luck.
