Hi,Guys..New To The Forums..
Im Riding Aprilia 750cc 90Degree Water-Cooled V-Twin Engine..
Local Temp Are High..26Degree Celcius To 34Degree Celcius..
Manual Say 15w-50..
Im Gonna Change EO To Motul 300v,Cause Its Easy To Get Locally..
Question Is,Can I Use A 10w40 Although Manual State Use 50Grade Oil..
(Thought Using A 40 Grade Oil,Would Run Cooler & Would Be More Responsive..)
Or Should I Go For 15w50..??
Can Share The Pro's & Con's Of The 10w40 & 15w50 Grade..
Thanx..

Pros and cons go both ways.

One is not better than the other. One is thinner and one is thicker.

The 300V at 10w-40 will run beautifully in your Aprilia. Nice machine btw.

Thick oil is tougher and gives higher oil pressure.

Thin oil cools better and generates less drag.

Given the hot temperatures where you are, I would recommend sticking with 15w-50.

Thanx For Reply..
Understand One Is Thinner,One Is Thicker..
Im Only Concern,Can I Use A 40Grade Oil,Instead Of 50Grade Oil..
Cause Manual State CAUTION "Only Use High Grade 15w50..

Now,Using Maxima Extra 15w50..
Actually It Feels Less Torque Compare To The Stock Agip Mineral Oil..
& Also Run Hotter Too..
Btw Im Riding Aprilia Dorsoduro..
Here Are Some Pics Of My Bike..

If it says "only use" that is what I would do. Those are nice bikes.

I love Aprilias! If I ever chose to risk my life on two motorized wheels, it would be on a machine from that marque.

Another vote for the 15W-50 300V.

Yeah Street Version..!

In a lot of the Japanese sport bike manuals they specify "use" or possibly "only use" 10w40 for example. But if you read further they will quite often have a chart with different weight oils and temperature. For my GSX-R750 k7 and my k1 1000 I can use a 20W50 in summer in Australia. I go with a 15w40 or 10w40 for the other months.

Only is a little inflexible in my opinion. If you intended to run this thing in sub freezing temperatures I think most people would agree that a lighter weight oil would be a wise option. On the other hand Singapore is a little warmer than most countries on average so I would feel safe even with a 20w50. Your cold starts are never likely to be cold in comparison to most other countries.

I Already Check Properly My Manual..
Its Say "USE"..15w50..Not "ONLY USE"..
Like U Said,It Be Wise To Use Motul 10w40..
But It Would Be Save To Use Motul 15w50..
Basically,Im Not Doin Any TrackDay Yet With The Bike..
Not Anytime Soon..
Just Normal Everyday Riding To Work Place..
Which Is 5km From Home..(Singapore Is A Small Country,Hehe)..
Guess I'll Be Trying,The Motul 10w40 1st..
See,How It Goes..
& How Far Will It Last..

aprilia recommends 15-50 for all climates. I myself use 300v in my Falco and have to say with over 4k miles on this latest change it is the best oil (shift feel) of any oil I have ever used in a bike for this long. Shifts are actually easier now than they were at the begining of this interval! gotta love the "if it bleeds we can kill it" color too :)

btw aprilia's have got to be the most underrated bikes on the road. They are what would happen if Ducati and Honda had a child. All the strengths and very little weaknesses.
My next bike is going to be a Dorsoduro or possibly a 70's 2stroke street bike.

molko, I am NOT saying to use 10w40.

But a couple of others here agree with your manual and Aprillia and say if it says use 15w50 then USE 15w50 only.

Keep this in mind also. Mobil 1 Racing 4T 15w50 is thicker than their 20w50 according to the product data sheets.

So strictly speaking, I ask how critical is it that it be 15w50? If anything you would be better to stay at 15w50 or 20w50 than go to 10w40 for Singapore weather.

You're right about advanced.

Fly by wire throttle. Considered advanced but can be a pain if poorly implemented.
Aslo comes in 25kw for power limited novice license jurisdictions. But bike has full low down torque up to limit. Seems like it is implemented in the ECU and throttle, so maybe it is possible to get it uncorked when you have your full licence. Anyone know about that?

My thoughts exactly. Don't go thinner when temperatures are high.

Ok..
Im Sticking To 15w50 For My Next Oil Change..
I Have Read More Bout EO Temp Range..50Grade Suits In Singapore,Also Im Running It On Vtwin Engine..

So U Said,Mobil1 Racing 15w50 Is Thicker Than Their 20w50..
How Is That So,Aren't They The Same Grade..??
Which Means,Currently Im Using Maxima Extra 15w50..
It Has A Different Thickness From The Motul 300v 15w50,Even They Have The Same Grade..??
How Can I Check Their Differences In Thickness..??
Really Sorry..Noob Question..I Noe Nuts Bout 4Stroke Oil..

Thanx..!
