What filter is considered best now?

It's oil change time again, for my wife's 2017 Ram 1500 with the 5.7 Hemi. I have been using Fram Synthetic Endurance, but it appears my local Walmart doesn't have it. I came here and from what little I have seen, when I can sneak on here at work, is they are no longer top dog, and some Walmarts aren't even carrying it anymore anyway. Unfortunately my time to dig through other threads is limited, even at home, with twin toddlers, so figured it might be easier to just make a thread. What are you fine people's opinions on the best filters these days? I have access to Walmart, O'reilly, Autozone, and Napa locally.

I also have a 2012 F150 5.0 with 254k, but it's not due for a change, for awhile yet, but open to suggestions for it too.
You can go OE on both from walmart

I'm good for awhile on my cart filter car, but canister one I just purchased a PGEL.

IMO

NAPA Gold (NG) is the best. It's made by Premium Guard (PG), but NG is slightly better than other premium filters made by PG.

A close second is Oreilly Microgard Select (MS) and others based on (same as) PG EX, and also the Pentius premium line of filters.

MS costs $3.49 less than NG. MS is more than good enough for vehicles that have a decent size oil filter. For example, I know that Honda 2.4L, Buick 3800, Jeep 4L, Ford Ranger have decent size oil filters.

However, for engines with a small oil filter (Hyunda 1.8L for example), I prefer NG because it has slightly more filtration material.

MS and other PG filters have a thicker than average can, which is good. NG has an even thicker can, which is best. Most vehicles don't need a thicker can, but offroaders might benefit if flying stones, gravel, or branches hit the filter. Some Hyundai can benefit from a thicker can to prevent filter bursting from high oil pressure.

For my Buick or my neighbor's Honda, MS or NG are both more than good enough, but MS costs $3.49 less. So MS is best choice for those cars.

For my other neighbor's 03 Hyundai Elantra 1.8L (which can have very high oil pressure) I want NG because its can is thicker than MS and Hyundai OEM filters. I also like NG for this car because the car uses a tiny filter. NG has more filtration material.

If your vehicle has a large enough filter or a frequent OCI, is not prone to very high oil pressure, and you don't offroad, then I recommend MS, PG EX, or any brand autostore premium filter (made by PG and is a PG EX filter with autostore housebrand label on it). You'll save money compared to buying NG.

If your vehicle has a small filter or long OCI, is prone to very high oil pressure, or is offroaded a lot, then I recommend NG.

Based on recommendations here - I’m currently running Car Quest Premium (white can) oil filters . My only complaint is the outer gasket is a little thin as compared to my previous Fram’s used , so I have to tighten a bit more to prevent leaks .

I'm running a regular WIX filter right now on my hemi ......really like the pressures I see on the dash driving ......cold start over 60 psi

Do your filters have a regular gasket or a P-style gasket? The ones for my daughter’s Honda Civic are P-style. The tightening procedure for P-style is different.
