What filter is considered best now?

some of them the glue comes loose and goes all over and ends up who knows wherre.. how to know if you have one of these ? .. you just cross your fingers?? ..

Bought a Purolator LX7317 at Walmart. I think I’ll continue to pass on Purolator.
Lots of loose glue. I can’t guarantee that that I didn’t knock anything loose cutting the filter element, but I found 3 large pieces of loose adhesive inside the pleats. Lots of loose glue outside the element. Half of the top metal plate didn’t adhere, but I doubt that matters under pressure.

Tried a Purolator on LX7317 on somebody else’s car for an OCI.

Anyone know where Baldwin is typically sold at now? I went to my Kubota dealer today, asked for an oil filter and the guy brings me a Baldwin. I looked at him confused as I was thinking I'd get a Kubota branded $23 filter. So I asked and he told me "We're having issues selling them since they're made by Baldwin so we're just selling the Baldwin" It was $10.

So the Purolator is a no go. I am probably gonna pick up a NAPA gold for the wife's car. I already have the oil. Got a deal on a 12qt box of 0w20 Supertech last year, so ready on that front. It was in the clearance isle. The box was damaged but nothing had ever been opened yet.
Who makes the Napa Gold in your region?

Look inside the actual filter, what type of holes?
If it has the unpainted ring around the base is another sign along with the big holes in the center tube, then it's a PGI made NAPA Gold.
Yea it's crazy. I can figure out the specs on a gaming PC for almost any budget with not much effort, but finding a good quality filter seems impossible without a lot of time spent looking at them. lol

premium guard based XL filters are currently the best filter on the market. be that carquest premium, micoguard select, select STP XL filters. the new carquest extended protection sacrifice a little in efficiency but gain synthetic media and a polymer backing. the new Mobil 1 filters that have center cores with holes and a plastic wrapper over the end are also great filters with less stated efficiency than the others listed.
Using the Mobil 1 M1-104A for the '25 Soul . This had the plastic cover , orange anti-drain valve , center tube w/ holes and built in bypass valve . The seal ring of the base plate is black ( nitrile ? ) . Purchased at Walmart for about $12 .
