What can Valvoline do to top Restore and Protect?

Still waiting on Valvoline Restore and Protect versions that meet BMW LL-14 FE+ or LL-17 FE+. Also MB 229.5 and 229.71. VW 504 00 and 508 00. And the list goes on.

When Valvoline covers at least the major Euro specs, then we can ask, what is there to do next?

Well, the only meaningful anecdote I can add to the topic is that my wife said this today; “go ahead and run it a 5th time to be sure we gave it the best shot since our car has a lot of miles”…

So, when the wife is saying what to run regarding oil, you listen. 5th run it is!! 😎😂

Oh wow. Yes 5W would not be appropriate.
Yeah we can see below -40 in winter and it doesn’t have a block heater. Back to testing Valvoline Restore and Protect, it’s a grocery getter, commuter to work sometimes which has some highway.

Reactions: GW.
I’d bet Valvoline Restore and Protect in non severe service and 5k oci’s in a euro engine would be just fine. Problem is finding someone to test my theory….
@KnappAttak is running it exclusively in his Euro engines now, and there's a whole pile of people at Audiworld doing the same now, so we should have some results in a few years showing how they do.

You park outside in that weather? Yeesh.

-25F = -31C so pretty close
Yes. The Vw usually got to park in the garage when it got cold but now the new Volvo will get that priority. The diesel truck has always lived outside all year, only goes inside for maintenance.

The results are already there. No need to wait years. Valvoline Restore and Protect 5w30 is used in many ring stuck Audi engines that were specked for 40 weight Euro oil including the big dog twin turbo V8’s that make over 600 HP. The results show huge reductions and most time back to what you could call zero oil consumption AND a vast reduction in wear metals compared to the Euro Oils people were previously using. Some have run the Valvoline Restore and Protect for well over 60,000 miles already. Most change the Valvoline Restore and Protect at 5000 mile intervals and the UOA show you can go longer so some guys are starting to stretch that out a bit more. Some of these guys live in the Texas heat AND are tuned as well, and nothing but great results in every single case. These pistons and low tension oil control rings can be fixed from being literally on deaths doorstep. So many positive results on the Audi engines, I haven’t read any reports of the Valvoline Restore and Protect not working positively at AudiWorld.

I know if you do nothing the Audi engines can and will fail from carbon coming loose and hanging exhaust valves open and torching or breaking the exhaust valves. So Valvoline Restore and Protect has already saved many Audis from failing from the oil consumption from stuck rings. Also with the known help of Berryman B12 piston soaks & Yamalube Ring Free Plus in the fuel tank for rapid chemical help and cleaning as well, to help those who on on the verge of imminent engine failure.

That's for a Nissan Rogue. I think she was referring to long term use of Valvoline Restore and Protect in Euro engines.
It was nearly a 10K OCI ... longer than most people here run Valvoline Restore and Protect for, and it was most likely "no racing or severe service" use as stipulated. What "long term" are you thinking of?

I think you got your wires crossed a bit here.

@GW. was talking about "long term" use of Valvoline Restore and Protect in Euro engines. Like 5k OCIs for multiple years. As in, will there be any long term effects to Euro engines which spec Euro oils with HTHS >3.5 (among other things) when they run Valvoline Restore and Protect (API spec oil) for the long term — not "long OCI."
