What are you working on today?

Put a cluster in the 78 F250, changed the oil, repinned a hard shell connector and replaced some damaged wiring. Also changed the oil on it.

In honor of Labor day, I didn't do much 💤
Had a machine do the car wash, but they give you free vacuums at the end of the tunnel
Adequate for $9

Thermostat was hanging off the wall by the wires due to clumsy install by a service person many years ago
So I ordered a larger cover plate to hide the drywall sins
Some toggle bolts from H.D seemed to keep it tight, and some fresh batteries
I should investigate the failed circulation pump before winter 🤔

Changed the engine oil, filters, and both front and rear diff fluid in my fiancé's new 2023 Honda Talon ATV. It was the first 100 mile service. We have an appointment to get the valve clearances checked for the first 100 mile service because I don't have the correct tools to do it and it looks like a pain on this ATV.

Had two consecutive range days Saturday and Sunday out at the shooting club. Yesterday I stayed home and did laundry and some cleaning around the house. Today I've got a 2001 Chevrolet Impala waiting on me to do brakes and some minor service work to it

Yellowjacket eradication.

Wife was savagely attacked yesterday and covered with stings on one leg and one on her belly. Daughter's dog covered with yellow jackets stingy away while she ate them. Everyone OK.

I was stung on my right cheek. I look like botox gone very wrong.

I cannot find that hole! Set a fresh trap near, so I will know today.

Working on more county roads today. Stopped for lunch by this little bridge and noticed a date in the concrete, Dec 4th 1931. Surprised it’s that old. Also had the man’s name who built it.

This weekend I officially Schaeffer-ized the engine in my John Deere 5100e. The rest will stay Hygard because I keep a barrel of it. That’s what I use in all of our machines in the hydraulic and transmission systems.

I could actually hear the skin cracking and splitting on my face. Not pleasant.

Yesterday
2001 Chevrolet Impala
Replaced front and rear brake pads and rotors, replaced serpentine belt, air filter, changed oil

Ordered a Snowbear ProShovel for a client for an '08 F150. 84" blade and mounts in a 2" receiver

I'm very skeptical of a 2" receiver plow in a fullsize truck, but we discussed it at length and this is what he wants. Will just be for personal use on his driveway, so it might be ok.

I ordered a Curt front receiver as I personally really like everything I've ever handled from Curt.

Snowbear used to make a "Winter Wolf" model that had TWO attachment points but this has since been discontinued.

Finally, this market for light plows is sketchy. Snowbear's website is questionable at best, I couldn't raise anybody on the phone, and dealers like RealTruck or SnowPlows Direct know nothing about what they sell.

At least it's on my Amex so if the product never shows I know they'll help me.

2003 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 4wd
Replaced rear brake pads, rotors, calipers and hoses, replaced left inner tie rod, changed oil

2012 Ford Mustang
Serviced the differential

Rotated the tires on the truck tonight. I had the right front TPM going to zero psi when it actually has 60 psi in it intermittently over the last week. Rotated it to the left rear to see if it follows it to that location.TPM’s are factory original and about 11.5 years old now so I suspect the battery is going and the others will soon follow.

Really busy at work today. The air compressor has been failing for a month now today it finally crapped out. So all the old guys had to come to us young guys and borrow our power tools as none of them have any power tools besides small stuff. One guy came over hey tool man can I borrow your impact to take these wheels off I’ve only got air tools for big stuff. So had to recharge the battery today which is not normal usually I can go a week on a battery. I told them to get rid of the Dewalt compressor and get something good 🤣. It’s been bandaid fixed by our maintenance crew they won’t call anyone out to fix it and the maintenance crew is stumped as to why it went out. I don’t mind for a day but people can’t keep using my stuff constantly it holds me up. The building was built in 2013 and it’s the original compressor and the building expanded a year ago. Apparently no back up compressor. Hopefully they get it fixed soon if they don’t we can’t even help someone with a flat tire or anything. Nothing special today just the usual. Had one tech misdiagnose an alternator for a battery so customer had to have it towed back and I diagnosed and replaced the alternator other tech just hooked up the battery tester it said bad so he put a new battery in and sent it on its way.

Isn't this a dealership? No excuse for running something like a Dewalt compressor, which is just re-badged who-knows-what. They should have something like a quality Quincy or even a rotary screw. And a backup sitting on a pallet.

2000 Camry with it's 3rd broken window regulator or motor. This is a weird one in that it appears something is stripped. The window doesn't go completely down or up. Supposedly the driver's window regulator / motor is also weak again, making that one a repeated failure.
