I had a similar story with a friend’s Lexus. It calls for Toyota Transfer Oil LX 75W GL-4, it uses a Toyoda(JTEKT) t-case with a Torsen diff in it. Toyota wants $80/L for it. All the Lexus LC/T4R-based SUVs, as well as the Tacoma, LC200, and the 2014-on Tundra/Sequoia call for it. Red Line just released MTL-LV and it seems to work fine in this pavement princess.PTU takes a super expensive ($60/qt) synthetic AC Delco 75W-90 PTU specific fluid, which I chose to use. Would a regular GL-5 EP 75W-90 fluid work? Perhaps, but I don't want to be the guinea pig and take a chance on a $1K+ unit. Couldn't find any evidence online that aftermarket fluids have been used successfully or that they might work long term. All the major oil vendors (Amsoil, Royal Purple, Mobil1, etc.) list no product available for this application.
Today at work wasn’t very busy. Just done a lot of training and took the interior of a Tacoma out. It was molded so we are stripping the interior then we are going to install all new interior. I can’t remember what the total amount is going to be it’s like double digit grand lol. This is a 2018 Tacoma. Customer has a CB radio in it well did have one and he drilled holes in the roof for his antenna mount and all those years it’s been leaking so it got bad. It’s really nasty to work on. He also said he never really closed the back sliding window so I’m sure that’s a contributing factor as well.
Really not much today at work. Tomorrow we have a ton of appointments unfortunately. I don’t like being busy lol.
Agreed, I would much rather stay busy at work than stand around. If im not gonna do anything may as well go home, can lose money more comfortably in my reclinerNever understood this coming from a Mechanic?....Not just you because I've it from many, Day goes by faster when you're busy & the company making money allows us to keep our jobs.
