The 2014 Tacoma got new calipers, rotors, and pads today. Kind of a shame that the brakes I took off only had about 2,000 miles on them, but the drivers side caliper was messed up and was slightly sticking. So, in stop and go traffic that rotor would heat up and make all kinds of weird noises.
Drivers side was pretty strait forward. Even the caliper bolts came out ok. I mean, they should have as they were just replaced, but nobody uses the correct torque on those bolts.
I did have a slight battle with the passenger side caliper bolts, but Mr. Snap-On came in clutch!
Bled the brakes with a helper and took off in the country to bed in the pads. Really like the Element 3 Hybrid pads and rotors. Get a little bit of heat in them and they grab really nice. The Element 3 calipers were very well made and I had no installation issues.
Looking at it now the dealer I bought the truck from who put on the brakes really did a bad job. Didn't clean the mating surfaces and used very little if no lubricant. This is the drivers side.
I do plan on taking these apart, sandblasting them, and rebuilding them. Keep them sealed up in case I ever need them. Both the 2014 and 2021 take the same caliper.
