What are you working on today?

Daimler(Freightliner/Western Star/Setra Bus) pushes Detroit Diesel(they bought them out from Penske during the 1990s), PACCAR pushes their own engines, and Navistar is now pushing their MAN rebrand. The new Detroit Diesel engines are rebranded Mercedes engines. Cummins is a option for all of them.

However, Daimler wants to split into two - Mercedes cars as one, Freightliner/Detroit and Mercedes truck/bus into another company.
Same Penske who run NASCAR and Indy teams? What about Caterpillar? Many trucks had them as engine option.

Their 7/9 liter effort is a rebranded Cummins B6.7/L9, but their 11/13L class engine is their own design IIRC.
We have the PX-9 in our Kenworth, which is a Cummins L9 (ISC derivative, IIRC). I believe you are correct on the two larger engines, the MX-11 and 13, I think those are in-house efforts.

I proactively put a radiator in the Ridgeline to avoid SMOD. It had been through a dozen Iowa winters. It was time.

Put an intake manifold on a 2009 Mazda 6 2.5 that finally came off of backorder. Also repaired the oil pan, previous servicer siliconed the plug into the pan and there were no threads left, I took the plug out with a pocket screwdriver. Finished up by making a set of keys for a 2010 Mazda 3

Installed a new speedometer/odometer and park brake warning light in dads truck today. Unfortunately the only speedometer available anymore is digital which sticks out like a sore thumb in this 21 year old truck. But at least he has a working one now again. The first picture is the light assembly for the parking brake pretty simple to do just squeeze and disconnect from the other end. And afterwards we duck taped the dash back together. All the screw holes broke out many years ago.

Installed some cable covers in the bedroom office. They were delivered today from Amazon. Hides the Ethernet cables and power cord nicely..

Also made new cat 6 cables ordered the klein tools RJ45 tester And pas through crimper. Makes life easier.

Today's project! A client dropped of a 2016/2017 MacBook Pro Retina with a cracked screen, this one is getting a new retina screen installed, and a good cleaning. The screen was expensive, id say the most expensive part of a MacBook Pro!, but they wanted to fix, and not replace so they called me. I'm up to the task!.

I have about 50 acres to mow today.
Sort of hoping this was it but it won't be. We never got the summer grass burn...it keeps growing and getting greener.

Decided to hide some of the wires in the mantel. removed a few things that aren't being used anymore and relocate components.
