What are you working on today?

Relieving some internal stresses on the new 5 incher. When you "pop" these inside out so they need to stay uniform and straight. Got a nasty internal stress causing a bend on the first prototypes. Not good!

Got the water pump job done on the dually. Replaced all the belts and thermostat while it was apart. Also replaced the bypass hose that goes between the pump and intake. Monday I'm supposed to have a dodge van in the shop for front brakes and a dodge caliber in for a belt, tensioner and idler pulleys.

Just cut some wood - oak for the fire pit … a little pear for the BBQ …

Anyone smoke with pear ? I never have and don’t know if it’s mild or ?
Hey 4WD … based on all the feedback here … I used some pear chunks over B&B lump charcoal
Wife approved of the chicken I BBQ’d for dinner …

Did first oil change on our '17 Acura MDX. It ran 12000km before the 15% oil change reminder popped up. I had success doing 19 oil changes using Fumoto valve on our '09 MDX so I thought I'd give EZ oil drain valve a try this time. Website on EZ says these should fit (valve with extension due to recessed pan), but they didn't. Played with various methods for ten minutes and I gave up. The valve hits the exhaust shield and would not turn to tighten. Will see if EZ will take back the item due to lack of fitment issue. Less than impressed with EZ.

Not working on any cars today unfortunately. But I’m cleaning up the house trying to make room since we have to get a new washer and dryer and I need more room for tools and equipment, now getting anybody to part with anything is the hard part.

Was watching a snowblower maintenance video a few months ago and he mentioned coat the axle with anti seize in order to get the wheels off easily. As luck would have it one wheel came off easily other wheel was seized in place. Removed the one wheel slid out the shaft after I removed the C clip retainers and then pressed out the shaft using my 12 ton press with an extension bar. Cleaned the ends with a wire wheel and drill. Put it all back together and used plenty of anti seize on the ends and then changed the oil.

Also greased the shafts and gears.

I let my 13 year old son change out the serpentine belt on my 2011 ram this morning, I supervised of course. I jumped in a couple of times but other than that he figured it out. He has never done a belt so the very first thing I told him was to make a diagram if one isn't present on a sticker under the hood. I had him draw the diagram and after I looked at it, I let him proceed.

Today I went and got some vacuum hose for my van and some attachments too and made a vacuum line. This is temporary until my hose that I ordered comes in that Trav recommended for it.

Nothing as of right now. All we have had come in and scheduled is an oil change then a customer who replaced their PCM and now the car won’t start and they slathered anti seize all over the connections so I am wondering if that has something to do with it. Their response was “I read online it’s ok to use anti seize because of its electrical conductivity” the boss said in probably going to get to rebuild the carburetor and suspension of his truck either today or tomorrow.

The dodge didn't need brakes. A backing plate had somehow gotten smashed against the passenger front rotor. Brakes were still 70%. Mended that and changed the oil, sent it on it's way. Now I've got nothing to do until Wednesday unless something shows up. I do have a Taurus coming Friday to check a coolant leak. Customer cant let go of it until then.
